The good news is that most of the crimes, seven, were not avoidable. The victims were not easy marks.
The bad news is that four of the 11 crimes involved threat or violence.
One crime was both of the above.
October 6th -- A man was mugged on Bergen Street between Third and Fourth Avenues. The perps threatened to stab and shoot him. It was 2 am. Though it's a free country, it's unwise to walk the streets at this hour, alone.
The other three violent crimes were:
Sept. 28th - A couple was mugged and physically assaulted on Smith Street between Pacific and Dean Streets by two thugs at 3 pm.
Oct. 6th - A stick-up took place on Henry Street near Clark Street at 7:15 pm. Two men armed with a gun robbed a college student of his iPhone.
Oct. 9th - A man wrapped his hands around a woman's neck from behind. She fainted and he robbed her. The crime took place at Plymouth Street and Anchorage Place at around 6:45 pm.
The other three avoidable crimes were:
Sept. 30th - A woman left her purse unattended while she partied in a club. It got snatched.
Oct. 4th - A man left $1,500 unattended in a van. C'est la vie.
Oct. 4th - A woman rode the 3 train with an unsecured purse. Some creep lifted her wallet.
One crime takes the cake for oddness. On October 5th, a thief swiped an attorney's wallet in the criminal courthouse.
All in all, it seems residents were more careful this time than in prior weeks.
Keep up the good work, till next time, Brooklyn Heights.

From the skyscrapers of NYC, I face strength. From the people of NYC, I gain understanding. And from the heart of NYC, I feel inspiration. So, I tend to write about the city quite a bit. View profile
