I have used many products made by CVS, so CVS Clarifying Body Scrub was a pretty easy pick. The price ran around five dollars, which was a few dollars cheaper than the similar name-brand products.
CVS Clarifying Body Scrub is used as a daily body wash to help prevent breakouts. The active ingredient is salicylic acid. Additionally, there are tiny particles in the scrub that help slough off dead skin cells, making your skin feel and look smoother.
Noticeable Changes
After using the body scrub for a few weeks, I have noticed some improvement. I don't have as many pimples, and the scrub has been a great, gentle exfoliator. I have not had any irritating dryness from CVS Clarifying Body Scrub; however, I do use a moisturizer after showering.
Note of Caution
Please be careful when using CVS Clarifying Body Scrub if you are already using any other kind of acne wash or cream. Combined use of this product with other acne treatments could irritate your skin and bring on excessive dryness. It is always best to consult with your physician if there is any doubt.
Uncertain on Repeat Purchase
Two major flaws in the CVS Clarifying Body Scrub may be enough to make me switch to a similar product from a different company.
The first problem is in functionality. I am not sure if it was a bum bottle I picked up, but I have had a very difficult time squeezing the body scrub from the bottle. When I use it, I have to take the lid completely off and dab the scrub onto my wash cloth. It is a small gripe, but I like the convenience of a squeezable bottle.
My second problem with CVS Clarifying Body Scrub is the scent. I am not a fan of the scent at all. I cannot even describe it; other than to say that it is not pleasant. I wasn't expecting anything flowery; if anything, I was expecting a neutral smell.
The Final Say
CVS Clarifying Body Scrub is a great buy that works for light to moderate body acne. The price is affordable and cheaper than similar name-brand products. If the bottle problem is a fluke, and you can get past the smell, it is a reliable product that does what it advertises.
