This October, my mother and I traveled to the Cumberland Mountains hoping to arrive when the leaves were turning. If we got our timing wrong that would be okay because the mountains are beautiful any time of the year. Through an error on the motel's part; our reservations made for the Jordan Motel in Jamestown were useless. If you are curious about that story see my review of the Jordan Motel. We arrived at the Days Inn in Crossville on a Saturday at 1 p.m. I was a little nervous that they may not have any non-smoking rooms. The woman working the front desk was very nice and friendly. We appreciated the fact that she and the housekeeping staff, who were Hispanic, only spoke English in front of us.

This particular Days Inn is located on Hwy 127 near I-40. It is set back from the road a bit, so the only way you know it is there is by their marquee. Speaking of which, the notice on the marquee claiming that the Days Inn had a microwave and fridge in every room is why we stopped there in the first place.

We were assigned room 114; the only drawback I found was that the room is located behind the pool. In October the pool isn't open so we didn't have to listen to folks enjoying the water, but we weren't able to see the woods that surround the motel because of it. Since we got there so late and had no reservations, I'm not really complaining about that. I was grateful for what we got. I will complain about the bathroom though; it was tiny and the water pressure for the shower was pitiful.

Our room had a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, cable TV, clock/radio, and hairdryer. Some of the channels on the TV had static, but we still were able to enjoy the show so it wasn't bad enough to grumble about it. The refrigerator was inside a built-in cabinet that also housed the microwave and TV; it also had a few drawers to put stuff in. It was a nice piece of furniture. Free high speed internet is available in all the rooms, but unfortunately I don't have a laptop so I didn't get to test the connection. The motel offered a free breakfast, but neither my mother nor I were interested in it. Each room has a telephone with free local calls, since we both had working cell phones we didn't use the telephone Days Inn provided. Besides what I've already mentioned our room had double beds and a kitchen table with two chairs that were placed in front of the only window.

For the two bedroom nonsmoking room, we paid $79.99 plus $11.80 in taxes for the night. We enjoyed our stay at the Days Inn and if you find yourself in Crossville, I recommend staying there.
