Last Friday, I decided to stop off at the store after work to do a little bit of grocery shopping. We already had leftovers for dinner but I figured it would be a good idea to pick up something for breakfast the next morning.
After finding something for my wife and I to split, I went looking for something my kids would eat and, knowing they both enjoy mini pancakes, I ended up in that section. I originally intended on buying one of our regular brands of frozen mini pancakes. However, I ended up buying mini pancakes from the De Waffelbakkers brand instead.
I've seen this particular brand in the past and, even though I remember buying something else from it (I can't remember what), I really wasn't sure if it was any good or not. And, under normal circumstances, I probably wouldn't have purchased it just because it was more expensive than our regular brands.
What compelled me to buy this brand, however, was the quantity. While more expensive, there were 80 pancakes inside the bag. That is at least double what we can expect from other brands and it was only about $1 more. And, being a person who shops for value, I couldn't pass that up; especially since the pancakes are packaged in two separate packs of 40 (meaning I don't have to worry about the extras getting freezer burn.
Of course, after purchasing these, I did have some concerns about whether or not my kids would like them. I've found not all frozen pancakes are the same and the quality difference isn't something that goes unnoticed by my daughters. In fact, we've had quite a few brands that just ended up in the garbage simply because they refused to eat them.
However, that has not been a problem with this brand. I tried one and didn't notice any difference between these and other mini pancakes and, more importantly, my daughters haven't either. In fact, our youngest has asked for some of these as her bed time snack and my oldest daughter usually asks for these for breakfast a couple times each week.
If you have kids or just like mini pancakes for yourself, this is a brand I would recommend looking for. They are just as good as some of the better known brands and, because you get so many more, it offers a much better value. I know I will be buying them again.
