I was recently flipping through the channels and saw an infomercial for Debt Cures by Kevin Trudeau. Let's face it, just about everybody has some kind of debt, and it's the American dream for many of us to be debt free. So I eagerly watched the program and ordered the book thinking that maybe I could get some useful information.
First off, when you call to order the book, you have to use a credit card to pay for it and then the operator tries to sell you a bunch more stuff to make money off you. After repeating myself a half dozen times with "No thank you" (after all I am trying to eliminate debt not incur more), I finally got to the part for ordering the book. Now I had a choice of expediting the book to my home for an astronomical amount of money, or I could opt for the standard shipping which is 2 - 3 weeks. I choose the standard shipping; even this was an outrageous amount of money for a book.
The book finally arrived and I read it cover to cover; needless to say I was a bit disappointed. So here's the low down on this book that is supposedly going to help you cure your debts.
The first three of chapters give you information on how the credit card companies work and how they work with the federal government. Basically telling you how corrupt everything is and how they are ripping you off blind. We all pretty much know this already; just take a look at your interest rates and fees!
The next three chapters tell you how to eliminate your debt, cutting rates, negotiating, and dealing with debt collectors. There is no magical formula to this; it's mostly a common sense approach. I am a little disappointed that these chapters focused mainly on credit cards and not much in the way of solutions for other types of debt. Some of the solutions are not feasible for the average person; if they were, you would probably not need to consider buying the book. How to deal with debt collectors was definitely a helpful segment if you are being hounded by debt collectors you can learn how to deal with them tactfully so they don't bug you anymore. If you do have a lot of credit card debt and collectors hounding you, these chapters are definitely worth reading.
The next couple of chapters in the book discuss information about your credit report. This is probably the most helpful part of the book. If you don't know anything about your credit report these chapters tell you what you need to know, what you need to look for, and how to correct it.
In the final chapters, the book gives you suggestions on how you can try to build wealth and how you can get free money. Some of the suggestions really depend on your situation and what you qualify for, but these may be some things you have never thought of before and are worth a shot.
Overall the book is filled with a lot of stories of ordinary people overcoming their debt using some of the solutions. I would liked to have read about a lot more solutions to debt problems and working Web links, rather than about credit card companies, the government, and personal stories.
The author has written the book in terms that the average reader can understand so you don't have to deal with technical babble. The author talks to you in a way that gets you pumped up and makes you feel like with a little persistence you can start to eliminate some debt but you need to make the effort.
This book offers great information about how to fix your credit and other debt issues, if you are relatively new to the world of credit and don't know how it works. If you are just starting out and haven't established any credit yet, this can help give you ideas for getting established and stay out of debt. For those of us that have been using credit for awhile and just can't seem to get out from under the credit cards you may find some useful tips to get you started in the right direction.

Post a CommentHoney most, if not all, scam artist are "passionate" about what they do. And just like you're entitled to your opinioin so are the rest of us so why don't YOU shut up and let us exercise our right to freedom of speech? Then you can go buy this book but don't expect anyone to feel sorry for you when you find out the truth about Mr. Trudeau. Thanks and have a nice life!
I had a very similar experience. I called, ordered the book and gave my credit card info. After they decided to offer me many additional item which I refused. Once they told me the price of shipping and processing I told them to forget it, that I didn't want the book. The customer service rep said that it was too late, she already processed it. I asked how it was possible since she didn't confirm which shipping method I was using. She also didn't have a confirmation number. She said I'd have to call customer service. I did. Guess what! They're open only Mon. Through Fri. This was saturday. By Monday the order had already been processed and the book was on its way. Again, when I received the book, it was very disappointing. The free money.........WELFARE! He basically told me to start my own business and go on welfare! I am returning the book even though I will be out the shipping and processing fee which was $11.95.
You are not fully representing this book. It took me all of thirty minutes to get through it, most everything is out of date or incomplete and misleading. The majority of it is Kevin Trudeau ranting on and on about how the government and credit card companies are trying to rip you off. As if they are to blame. Not even. We are all in debt because of living unconsciously, blaming others and not taking responsibility for researching. I am guilty as sin in this case, I bought the book from an infomercial and it will now cost me more to return it. So I have an expensive dust collector. But, I learned a valuable lesson I can share with others. The one piece of information that was any good is about the repayment of student loans, how to work them off. However, the information in his book is way incomplete.
Watch for my book review and how to not incur debt. I see now I really do need to give you an honest critique of his book. A con artist to be sure. I fell for it.
I disagree with this preview. I happen to have the book and I will say that it has a lot of very useful info that not everybody is aware of. I am not an apologist for Kevin Trudeau by any means as I have not bought any of his other products, but Debt Cures can definately work for someone who doesn't know anything about financial matters. I had no idea that I can payoff my mortgage earlier just by sending more payments a month.
There are a lot of people in real debt out there and have no clue as to how to get real help. By no means, this book is the only option or information out there but it definately shed some light in some areas for me where I absolutely had no idea. So for me it was money well spent.
has anyone attempted to go on the sight grant gov? how do you know which ones are real or a scam?
Great review of the book. You did a good job. It was easy to find on the search too.
Today for the first time I have read an autobiography that was presented by Wikipedia Encyclopedia regarding Trudeau. I believe I know what their up to. Let's suppose the books give you some helpful information. to me thats better than getting nothing at all. As far as all his investigations go. Why haven't these other manufactures who advertise weight loss had such intense investigations I look around and people who have tried them are still FAT. Personally I have taken over the counter drugs and they were of little or no effect and I have taken some natural things and saw improvements. That only my personal experience. Do your own home work
for your sake. Bless you all.
MY WIFE BOUGHT HIS LAST 3 BOOKS FOR .50 CENTS EACH AT GOODWILL LAST MONTH. DOES THAT TELL YOU SOMETHING.
I READ THROUGH THEM AND THERE IS NOTHING OF VALUE IN THEM , JUST VERBIAGE. .50 CENTS WAS A WASTE OF MONEY.
I am familiar with Kevin Trudeau and his criminal past. I have however, for myself checked out the information he writes about. Through my reading of periodicals like MotherJones, Time, Black Enterprise Magazine, Money, articles on the internet from sources like Wikipedia, Yahoo and Google I have found the information in the books to be true and accurate! Despite his past. The books I refer to are Natural Cures and Debt Cures. I practice homeopathic rememdies before subscibing to traditional medicinal rememdies and I can testify they work for me and my family. I am a real estate agent and loan officer, the tips he mentions in his book are the same as I have found on my own doing research for my clients.
I liked the review of his latest book. It was fair and it let the reader decide for him or herself. Do your own research and become informed not lead!!! Knowledge is Power!!! Peace and Blessings
Kevin is an excellent informer on health issues we NEED to know (though a bit too repetitive). I like his passion for what he does & I have learned a great deal from him. He has confessed to his criminal past but has found his calling. Let he who has not sinned, cast the first stone. This guy is trying to help so SHUT UP & LET HIM!!!
