Review of Decor Scroll Cast Iron Style Decorative Floor Registers

Our bedroom and master bathroom remodel is almost finished, and today my husband and I were shopping at Home Depot when we passed by a display of metal floor grates (or registers), which are inserted into floor heater vents. He asked me if we needed any new grates, and I told him I had just replaced the floor grate in our laundry room and entry way, so I didn't think we needed any more.

Then I saw a color on the shelf that really caught my attention! These were floor grates made by Decor Grates Incorporated, in Canada, and they had one design that was colored black. I had never seen this color before, only silver, gold and bronze. There were only three left in the display box, and I grabbed two of them.

You see, our new bedroom design uses the look of black wrought iron! I have a black wall grille above our bed, and my lamps and curtain rods are also designed with the black wrought iron look. I had a hunch that these Decor Scroll Cast Iron Style Decorative Floor Registers would make a real statement in our bedroom, and I was right!

The only size available in the black color was the four foot by ten foot, but that is exactly the size of our register, so I quickly added two of them to my shopping cart before they were sold out. The box states that they are: rust proof, are coated with protective lacquer, have heavy metal steel tops, and come with a lifetime warranty. The back of the box reads "Scroll Cast Iron Style".

To determine the size you will need, measure your existing duct opening, (the register itself will be a bit larger to ensure coverage of floor opening. To insert, simply remove the old register and place this Decor Scroll Cast Iron Style Decorative Floor Register into the hole. While the frame and top are made of metal, the air flow controls are plastic. To adjust them fully open to fully closed, you simply move a lever back and forth.

These do have a scroll like, almost filigree design, and they really look great on my bedroom floors. Our carpeting is a blue gray color, and these blend in perfectly! They look so much nicer than the contractor grade, ugly brown register covers that we have lived with for years.

There aren't many accents that you can buy for $15.00 that will really dress it up and make a bold fashion statement, but these Decor Scroll Cast Iron Style Decorative Floor Registers certainly are capable of doing just that. I don't think I have seen these in any home, but they can really be a nice addition to any room. I can't recommend these highly enough.
