Pros
This dirt devil cordless vacuum is light and convenient for occasional spot cleaning. It can pick up dust, dirt, pet hair and small crumbs easily for carpet and bare floors. The transparent dust container lets you know just how much dirt this machine has been eating. The M083414 can also clean carpeted stairs very well and because it's a lightweight vacuum you won't need to break a sweat cleaning the stairs.
All of the controls for this cordless stick vacuum are located on the handle. So, when you want to switch from carpet to floor you no longer need to bend. This is a big plus for people with back problem.
The battery life is pretty good too. After a full charge you can run it for more than 20 minutes before the suction went down. After that you can plug it back onto the charging base (which also acts as the storage stand). Leaving the vacuum on the stand even after it is fully charged will not damage the battery so one less thing to worry about.
Cons
As a vacuum cleaner the cordless Dirt Devil M083414 will probably never replace your uprights. Even though the suction is pretty good it can not defeat the power of $300 corded uprights.
The biggest hassle of this stick vacuum is the filter. You must clean the filter after each use. Once you pull it out you will understand the reason. Even after a single normal use the dust clog the filter like heck. You need to wash and dry it thoroughly before using the vacuum again or else the suction power drops significantly.
Conclusion
The Dirt Devil M083414 cordless stick vacuum is a powerful little vacuum that can do wonders to your home. It does its job well and you won't break your arm and back moving it all around the house. Even though the dirt cup is small and you have to empty it often this stick vacuum is too good to pass. If you think $99 is a fair price to pay for this cordless vacuum you should go and buy it.
