Review: Dollar Tree Home Pregnancy Tests

Rachel Soden
Conception is a huge industry these days. Fertility monitors, ovulation detection, reproductive specialists, home pregnancy tests, and herbal remedies all are in demand by women (such as myself) who are suffering from some sort of infertility.

It's no secret that babies are expensive. What some of us didn't seem to realize is that when trying to conceive a child, it is downright ridiculously expensive. Between $20-25 a month for ovulation predictors and $15 a month for home pregnancy tests, that really adds up over time. So whenever possible we look for ways to cut corners and save money. One way that has been discovered is the Dollar Tree Home Pregnancy Test.

Home Pregnancy Tests aren't that expensive to make. However, companies have learned that women who are trying to conceive will pay that extra money for the pregnancy and ovulation tests. Mainly cause we didn't have a choice. Then came the Dollar Tree tests. These tests work the same way all pregnancy tests do. They just simply cost a dollar a piece.

I know. Too good to be true, right? Well, I have used them. They seem to work. At least I know they give accurate negative results. I've seen photos of other women's positives so I've got to assume that they work.

The bad thing about Dollar Tree tests is evaporation lines. They are notorious for them. I don't think I've ever taken a Dollar Tree test and not gotten one. You will need to figure out the difference between a positive result and an evaporation line so as to avoid heart ache.

Another bad thing about Dollar Tree tests is that they are cassette tests. This means you have to urinate in a cup and then apply the urine to the strip by means of a little squeegee. The pee on the stick tests are by far the more convenient of the two. However, that being said, I'll pee in a cup if it saves me $14 a month!

You could save money by buying internet cheapies however, in my experience, the shipping costs just don't jive with me. I'd rather drive to a Dollar Tree and have them now then pay extra and have to wait. If you don't have a Dollar Tree nearby, by all means, go with internet cheapies. They will save you money in the long run.

Would I use a Dollar Tree test again? Absolutely. I just make sure to keep a First Response nearby to double check any questionable results.

I can say that these dollar test work. I got my BFP on one. And then I went and spent like 30 bucks on a few more test and peed on them all...So I guess that totally defeated the purpose ;)
