Review of the Double Eagle M89P UMG

Chris Chen
The Double Eagle M89P UMG is an automatic electric airsoft gun that is amazing considering the price. Compared to the Ares UMG that costs $220 dollars, this gun performs about the same for only $99. Out of the box, this gun shoots consistently at around 340 fps and is accurate to about 80 feet. However, the magazine that comes with the gun is absolute garbage and I recommend buying a new one. The battery is also tricky to install for the first couple of times but you will get the hang of it after a while. This gun comes with a folding stock that works well in close quarters situations. The rails on the top and in the front are perfect for mounting all of your tactical equipment such as red dot and lasers. The orange flash hider is relatively easy to remove and can be replaced with a silencer to give this gun an even cooler look. This gun is a clone of the G&G and therefore is compatible with G&G parts and magazines.
If you plan on using this gun as your primary, make sure to replace some of the internals such as the bushings that are nylon. Also, a new battery would help to increase your rate of fire and power. It is important to get a new battery because the stock battery makes the gun shoot horribly slow. It might as well being going semi-auto. However, make sure to reinforce the internals. Currently, I'm using a 9.6v 1500mah battery that lasts about an hour and provides good ROF. I've also noticed some problems with the hop up system. When I am adjusting the hop up, sometimes the charging handle gets stuck and the hop up can be erratic from time to time. The gun is solid and feels nice to hold.
This gun is a great alternative for recreational play and entry-level players. However, if you were looking for a more durable gun with more reliable parts, you'd be better off not buying this gun. You will have to make major modifications to make this gun into competition level.
