If I was going to dictate something on Windows Vista speech recognition such as "Jesse Owens won four gold medals in the 1936 Olympics", with Windows Vista speech recognition the phrase would most likely come out like "robot razor blades eat clutch packs for 6x9 at a washing machine." This is what makes Dragon speak naturally 10.1 so much superior, at first I thought it was because I wasn't using a microphone with the Windows program; so I bought a microphone head set and was left with the same poor results. I installed Dragon speak naturally 10.1 on my laptop and the quality was very apparent right from the get-go. Dragon speak naturally 10.1 scanned all of my Word documents such as articles that I had written and a 300 page science-fiction novel that I had. The program was learning what kind of language I typically use so that it had a better understanding of my vocabulary. Installation was a snap, however it took about 10 minutes for it to go through all my documents and after that there was a short tutorial on using voice recognition and a self learning process in which it got acquainted with my voice commands.
Dragon speak naturally 10.1 is very simple to use even for a novice, it has what is called a Dragon bar at the top of your screen which gives you different tools when using the program such as a quick command guide and also under the words pull down menu you can train Dragon speak naturally to understand and learn new words or words that it doesn't initially recognize. Dragon speak naturally 10.1 is a snap to use, but make sure that you buy a good headset because the built-in microphone on most laptops is severely lacking in quality. Dragon speak naturally 10.1 is even so sophisticated that when you are in the setup process it even asks you what kind of accent you have and there are a list of accents in which you can choose from. It seems the more that I use Dragon speak naturally 10.1 the better it works as it seems to be actually adapting to my style of dictating.
I highly suggest this program for anyone that is writing a novel or writes articles on a regular basis, it may take a while to get use to using voice recognition software, but after a while it becomes very natural just as the title of the program infers. The cost of the program is quite hefty, but if you can get it in some other way such as through a bit torrent site or perhaps you make enough money off of your writing that it is logical to have, I highly suggest getting Dragon speak naturally 10.1 and seeing what the fuss is all about. I'm not the most computer literate person in the world, but I found it simple to install and even easier to use. I wrote this whole article by dictating to Dragon speak naturally 10.1 in a very short amount of time. Even if you speak fast the program seems to keep up with you quite well, so if you're looking to save time and avoid carpal tunnel syndrome than I highly suggest getting this program.
