Review - Droppy

Droppy :) is a flash animation adventure game created by Newgrounds.com user Pencilkids. This point-and-click game was submitted to Newgrounds.com on November 26, 2009 and won a Daily 4th Place award on November 27, 2009.

Game Background

Droppy's girlfriend has been taken prisoner by some bad guys. Travel through strange and mysterious landscapes to rescue her!

Gameplay

The objective of Droppy :) is to solve puzzles by clicking on certain objects on the screen. There are a total of 10 unlocked stages, plus one final stage that is unlockable only after you have completed the first 10 stages. Each stage has a different puzzle that is unique to the stage. You can tell how to solve the puzzle almost immediately. If you are unable to determine what the puzzle is for each stage, you can begin by clicking around. Objects that can be clicked on will change the cursor to a hand. Any click made anywhere on the screen counts as one click. Your total clicks are tallied at the top of the screen. To the right of this click count is the game quality toggle menu. At the top-right of the screen, you have the walkthrough button that will take you to a video that will help you solve each stage.

Your goal is to solve each puzzle in as few clicks as possible.

At the stage selection menu, you can choose which stage to play. Initially, you can only pick from stage 1 to stage 10, and you can play the stages in any order that you wish. The instructions for the game can also be viewed from this screen, as well as a highscore list and a walkthrough button, which will take you to a walkthrough video that will help you beat the game.

Once you have completed all of the stages, including the unlockable, final stage, and have rescued Droppy's girlfriend, you will reach an end screen where you total clicks will be displayed on the top. Below that is a scoring chart to tell you how well you have done. The score guide separates players by the following categories:

120 clicks or less
121-180 clicks
181-250 clicks
251-400 clicks
401 or ore clicks

You can submit your score from this screen. There are also instructions here to claim a prize if you feel you have received one.

Game Controls

Use your mouse to point and click on objects. Occasionally, you will have to drag objects to certain locations on the screen. Just hold your mouse click to drag the object.

Game Review

Droppy :) is a fun little puzzle game that is perfect for anyone taking a short break or needing a quick game fix. Though there is not much of a storyline, the game is visually appealing. The puzzles are also different enough between all the levels to not become repetitive.

Droppy :) scores a 7/10 for being a sweet and simple game. More levels and a more engaging storyline would make this game better.
