Review of E-Case Waterproof Pouches from Magellan's

Roy A. Barnes
This is a review of two Seal Line E-Case waterproof pouches that are sold by Magellan's. Even though I was provided with these products from Magellan's, I wasn't required to recommend them nor told what to write in this review. My observations and product tests conducted were of my own accord.

Review of the E-Case Waterproof Pouches

For those like me who are into kayaking, it's important to have a dry place to keep one's camera, wallet, and cell phone while being around the water. These products have the look of more heavy duty plastic zipper storage bags, but are made up of RF-wielded seams, and use a SealLock closure to keep the water from getting to one's possessions.

Before using these waterproof pouches outdoors, I wanted to do home tests to see how well these items would potentially work. According to the packaging information, these E-Cases can safely store one's gadgets in up to a meter of water for up to a half hour. I put some small binoculars in the medium-sized pouch, which measures out to be 6" x 8", big enough to hold a digital camera in the 3" x 4" range comfortably (that's around 1" thick) or a 4" x 4" folded wallet (that's 1.5" thick of contents) and put a cell phone no longer being used in the smaller pouch (which measures out to be 4" x 6", fitting a closed cell phone in the 2" x 4" range that's ¾" thick) in a sink full of water at separate times for a half hour. Since the pouches began to rise up, I made sure they were held down with something heavier so they'd stay fully submerged. Each pouch kept the items perfectly dry.

And thus, I have confidence that when I'm kayaking with my camera or cell phone, that this pouch will keep them dry against any splashing or if they were to become temporarily submerged in some shallow waters. At one end of each of these waterproof pouches (on two corners opposite the closure), there are holes that one can lace a strap through to put around one's neck or body, but you have to make sure the seal is closed or your gadgets will fall out.

How to Purchase These Waterproof Pouches

. . . and since you know they float instead of sink, if they should fall in the water, they should be easy to retrieve instead of sinking. Of course, we don't know if it would work with something like a camera. No, I'm not volunteering mine! Interesting article and looks like a good product. Thanks!
