Review: Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey

Remember, Advertising Can Be Deceiving

Arthur Kirk
When you browse through the website for the Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey it appears to be a very nice family hotel which is close to the beach and the boardwalk. Beware though, advertising can be deceiving. The Eden Rock Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey is located at 5201 Atlantic Avenue. This is a great location in Wildwood, New Jersey as it is on the quiet side of the boardwalk, but close enough that you don't have to worry about driving and finding paid parking when you want to visit the boardwalk. Too bad the convenience ends there though, as the rooms at the Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey are not anywhere near what the website leads you to believe.

The rooms are advertised as having two beds which easily accommodate two adults and children under eleven stay in the room for free. The room includes a refrigerator and microwave. Unfortunately, you will find out that neither of these are maintained very well. In reality these amenities at the Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey are not usable due to the condition they were kept in the room. The rooms themselves tend to be very dirty, and not well maintained as well. The carpet appeared to be very worn, and the walls appeared to be in desperate need of a new coating of paint. I guess when you find a hotel in Wildwood, New Jersey 1/2 block from the beach and the boardwalk with in-season rates of $95-114 per night that should serve as a red flag. The rate appeared to be too good to be true, and in the end you get no more than what you pay for and probably less.

If the condition of the rooms does not bother you, if you are just looking for a place to sleep then the amenities of the Eden Roc in Wildwood, New Jersey include gas grills, ice machines, a laundry room, and free parking for one car per unit. There is also a pool, and a shuffleboard game to entertain you while staying at the Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey. At least these features give you an excuse to stay out of your room.

One other thing that is a little disturbing is that the ownership of the Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey accepts very limited types of payment. They will only accept either cash or money order when you arrive to pay the balance you owe. This inconvenience along with the condition of the rooms results in my opinion that I can't really recommend the Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey for families. It might be a cheap option for college students, but don't plan on having a romantic weekend away at this hotel. Despite the bargain rates at Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey, it's better to pay a little more and get better quality.

  • Eden Rock Motel in Wildwood, NJ does not maintain their rooms very well.
  • The location is nice, and so are the rates, but in the end the rooms aren't worth it.
  • Remember, they only accept cash or money orders.
The $95-114 rate during peak vacation season is attractive, but do yourself and cross the Eden Roc Motel in Wildwood, New Jersey off your list.

Every review of the Eden Roc Motel is absolutely true! That place is a complete dump. Words can't even describe it. I found the ad for this place on craigslist and it was totally misrepresented. I went there Labor Day weekend - it was a last minute reservation. The first 3 rooms she showed me were absolutely disgusting and smelled like mildew and urine. The room I ended up in was awful as well but I arrived in the middle of the night after driving for hours and was stuck til the following morning. The carpet was filthy and the bedspreads had blood on them. The drop ceiling had mold and was ready to collapse. All you could smell was mildew and the room felt moist! There were 3 loovers left of what used to be a set of vertical blinds that were secured by paper clips. It was apparent they rigged that to cover a gap where the window curtain came up short. The refrigerator had mold in it and was unplugged. The 2 towels in the bathroom were ripped and one had huge blood stains on it! After an argument with the nasty witch of an owner, I got out as fast as possible. Oh, the owner also initially tried to say the credit card machine wasn't working and was pushing to get cash from me. It mysteriously came unplugged from the phone line! I'm shocked after all that is wrong with this dump and all the complaints filed that the board of health hasn't shut it down or how they have a license to operate still. This was the only motel in wildwood that had vacancies on a major holiday weekend. There was 3 cars in the parking lot. Stay away from this dump!

Absolutely Agree. Buyer Beware. The owner is also very nasty. It is mostly under age kids & cops are there constantly. I should know, I live across the street. It is for sale & hopefully the new owners will buy it & tear it down.
