I am always highly skeptical of these "new and improved" type products and my thinking was that this would have to go a long way to impress me but it did that and more. If you are a regular user of the original Edge product then there are a few differences that you will notice right off the bat. The first is the new design of the can which is now a very cool looking green and blue with a metallic tint to it. The next thing you'll notice is that the familiar green gel is gone and has been replaced by a pale blue gel.
Let's look at some of the claims made on the can and see if they are correct or not. The first major claim is that they have doubled the amount of aloe in the gel which will soothe your skin and make it less irritating. This proved to be correct for me. I have very sensitive skin and tend to nick and cut easily and am always left with a bumpy, inflamed razor burn after I shave. Not so with this product, it really left me feeling smooth and there were absolutely zero signs of any razor burn. This also backed up the claim of "the best protection ever against nicks and cuts".
The container also states that "unique refreshing ingredients give you a conditioning sensation you can actually feel for the most refreshing shave ever". Again, this proved to be correct. The scent is very clean and crisp, and whatever they have added into the gel leaves your skin felling very smooth and tingly in a very nice way. I also didn't have to put on any after shave as the scent of the gel stayed with me and smelled great.
Another thing that stood out for me was how little gel you had to use to cover your shaving area. A little drop goes a surprisingly long way and will give you a great bang for your buck. Overall a great product and a definite improvement on something that was really good to begin with. I will be the first in line to pick up Edge Advanced Shaving Gel as soon as my test container runs out.
