For the past month now I have been strictly using sulfate free shampoo and conditioner after my keratin treatment to smoothen and straighten my hair. The issue I was having with this sulfate free formula though, was that my hair was starting to become very, very dry and even pin straight knotting up of the hair became a usual routine.
I knew I needed some deep moisturization in order to bring life back to my hair, and when I came across a bottle of Edward Beale Smooth as Silk Conditioner, I figured I would give it a go. Hopefully it wouldn't ruin the keratin treatment, and hopefully the conditioner added that much needed moisture to my dry locks.
The Scent:
Initially, besides the promise to smooth and silken, I picked this conditioner out due to the airy light and musky scent. It had this Jennifer Lopez watered down Glow perfumed type fragrance to it that I just loved. I hoped the scent would stick around after washing the conditioner out, but unfortunately it doesn't.
My Use:
In the shower, the first thing about Edward Beale Smooth as Silk Conditioner that aggravated me was the pump application. I prefer squeeze bottles, as pumps never seem to work correctly and they never hit that last inch of the bottle, and you could end up losing a lot of conditioner if you didn't look inside to realize there was a ton of it still swiped over onto the sides.
The second thing that bothered me was the consistency of the conditioner. It's very watery, and I needed to use a whole lot of it in order for my hair to feel just somewhat saturated.
The plus side though, outweighed all of the negatives. The plus was that while applying the runny conditioner, my hair actually began to feel as if it had gotten the best moisturizing drink it had been given in a very long time. The dryness was no longer felt, and the hair was easily parted and felt brand new.
Results On Dry Hair:
My hair still easily styled, so the conditioner did not ruin my keratin treatment. It left my hair shinier, smoother, and easier to manage. Knots were less visiting, and the hair felt moisturized and healthy.
Overall:
I picked Edward Beale Smooth as Silk Conditioner up on a local Marshall's for under $7.00, as much as I hated the pump applicator, and the runny texture of the conditioner, it worked like a charm. It lived up to the promise, and this is why I would recommend this one to anyone looking to bring some life back into extremely dry hair.
