Review: ELF's Cream Eye Shadow Duos

TommiH
Hey everyone! Here we go again with another makeup review brought to you by yours truly. Today we are going to take a look at ELF's Cream Eye Shadows. During this time we will focus on texture, color, and application. Let's get started.

Color:

I'll start off by saying that I do love the colors available. These cream shadows come in duos, such as: green and brown, navy and black, etc. The pigments are amazingly colorful and there is a little sparkle to them as well, but not overwhelming.

Each duo comes with colors that go well with each other, but I decided to get all six duos so I could mix and match colors. With all twelve colors, there is a nice selection and there are multiple colors that can go with each other.

It kind of stinks that there are only six duos available, but we'll work with what we've got. ELF is still rather new so they don't have lot of items available.

Texture:

Now for the bad part - texture. ELF states on the page with the duos that these are crease and smudge proof since they are cream shadows. Wrong. These shadows do crease after awhile and you are left with dark lines filled with color on your lid. So if you order these thinking that you are going to have this amazing shadow that won't crease or smear, think again.

I like the feel of the shadows because they feel light and natural. I can't stand the feeling of clogged pores or a heavy substance on my eyes. The shadows are very creamy and glide onto place with their vibrant pigments intact.

Application:

Application is easy and a beginner could even use these shadows. If you are new to cream shadows and blending and would like a little practice with an easier shadow, I would suggest getting one of these duos and practice blending with them. There is a lot of product in the duos and they're only $1 each, so these would be a cheap and easy way to get some practice in.

Before you put in the work to apply these shadows to your lid - get your lid prepped. Apply an eye primer to the entire lid and then apply a base, such as: concealer or foundation. This will help absorb oils from your skin and keep your shadow applied longer without creasing.

These are okay shadows and the price is great. I used these awhile back to practice with because I didn't have any idea how to handle cream shadows. But these were easy to apply and blend. I would recommend to beginners.
