This particular eMachines model comes with a ten inch screen, the Intel Atom processor, 1 GB of memory, 250 GB hard disk drive, and a three cell Li-ion battery and a built in webcam with mic. The hardware works like it is suppose to. I have had no trouble from my eMachines laptop.
The keys on the keyboard are slightly smaller and closer together than a standard keyboard, which causes a small problem when typing quickly. However it is still a good size and I would think that only large hands would have much of a problem.
The mouse touchpad is very touchy. Normally that would probably be a good thing, but I find that I accidentally hit it with my hands all the time while I am typing. It is situated at the direct bottom center of the laptop. I have wondered if a better placement might have been more on the side, but I can't say since my laptop experiences are limited.
Of course, the one thing that I miss on the eMachines eM250 is the lack of a CD player. However, it does come with three USB ports and I can always add my former music and files through them with the help of my desktop. Unfortunately, games and other software that I purchased for my desktop are on Cds and can't be transferred.
The eMachines eM250 comes with Windows 7 Starter. If you haven't used Windows 7 yet, don't be concerned with whether you can use it. I went directly into it from Windows Vista and have yet to discover the difference.
The eMachines eM250 does wonders on the web. Not only is it easy to connect wirelessly, web surfing is quick and easy. I have had many open windows at once and have never even seen it bog down under the pressure.
When I was searching for the laptop that I wanted to buy, I would see laptops that claimed to show u-Tube videos. That claim made me wonder if that was a problem for most laptops. If it is, then I am glad to have one that does not have a problem. Videos play clear.
The eMachines eM250 model comes with trial versions of Microsoft Office and Norton's. However it also comes with the full version of Microsoft Works. Microsoft Works contains a good solid word processor that will help you complete almost anything.
When it comes to games, the eMachines eM250 has an eMachines game console installed. This console has many games that you can play trial versions of or buy the entire game at a reasonable price. It is similar to the Big Fish Games game manager.
The eMachines eM250 costs around 280 dollars new, and it is well worth it. I woul reccomen this product to anyone that needs a laptop but doesn't need a CD player.
