Review of the Emmy Awards Show, the Emmy Statue and the Host

Ryan Seacrest Will Host the 2007 Emmy Awards

The Emmys award show is one of my favorite TV events.... I love to watch the pre-shows... this year a show that will be worth watching will be Lisa Rinna and Joey Fantone, on TV Guide Channel, interviewing all those walking down the red carpet as they ask all those silly questions, "who are you wearing", etc......this year in addition, Ryan Seacrest, who will be hosting the show as well, will be interviewing those celebrities before he and they make their way into the theater....therefore, I decided to write a review about the Emmy show itself, including the birth of the statue..

The Statue

The statuette is quite a beautiful design. Though it looks like gold, it is actually made up of silver, nickel and copper covered by that most referred metal of all, gold...It is a heavy piece too, weighing in a hefty 4 ¾ lbs...Each statue is carefully made taking about about 5 hours for each one....So much care is taken in making them that the person who puts each one together has to wear white gloves so there are no fingerprints on the statuette...

The design is a graceful one, depicting a winged women holding an Adam up towards the sky, the symbol of the goal of the academy in this design is to support and uplift the Arts and Science of television to it's highest plateau....The wide spread wings of the statuette depict the muse of the arts and the Adam signifies the science of the electron...Yes, quite a few symbols and details for such a statuette and one that is so coveted by those in the television business..

This year the 59th annual primetime Emmy Awards show will be on Sunday night, September 16th at 8 p.m. ET, there will be a delayed broadcast for the west coast, and will be broadcast on Fox Network...as I mentioned earlier, the host will be Ryan Seacrest of American Idol fame...Rumors say he might open with a song instead of the usual monologue. He does say he still isn't sure how he will feel about singing, and may or may not do his musical number depending on how confident he feels when the time arrives...right how he is on the road with his duties for American Idol but is due back in Los Angeles at the end of this week for rehearsals...if the musical number is performed it has been noted that this will be a musical number unlike anything done before...

Though usually hosted by a comedian, Seacrest's name was a surprise when it was first announced and he wants the audience to know that, even though he isn't a comic, it doesn't mean the show won't be filled with comedy and certainly will be a lot of fun to watch..

In addition, there will be a multitude of comedians who will add to the humor; to name a few, Ellen DeGeneres, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Lewis Black... Seacrest is also expected to be the brunt of some of that comedy...and, his monologue is expected to be quite different than what it normally would be if there was a comedian hosting...so that should be interesting, I would think.

A few of the stars set to perform are Tony Bennett and Christina Aguilera as well as a tribute to a late night talk show host, who is considered to be "king of one liners" though who that will be is being kept a secret..

There is also going to be change in the usual production of the show since this year there is a going to be a Green Theme...There will be biodiesel generators, sets that have been recycled and reusable drinking cups for the celebrities instead of bottled water in plastic containers..

All in all this years Emmys show will have the potential to be one of great entertainment and a celebration of all that is Television at it's best...I know I for one, am looking forward to watching it and will have my popcorn ready..

    Excellent as always.

Isn't this a preview rather than a review?

My intolerance for commercials has grown to the point that I watch nothing with them (the Super Bowl is an exception, 'cause I watch that for the commercials, the games usually not being very interesting; it scares me that I have watched more than half the Oscar presentations that there have ever been! despite great annoyances at pretty much every one I've seen...)
