While she was out shopping, she came across a variety of snack items from the Entenmann's brand and, since they were on sale (10 for $10) she brought a bunch of them home with her. Included in her haul were a couple of Entenmann's Apple Fruit Pies.
Even though I like apple fruit pies like the ones she purchased, this was the first time I had tried any from this brand and wasn't really sure what to expect. Most brands are pretty much the same. But, there are some brands out there that just aren't as good as the others.
Unfortunately for me, this was one of those brands.
Since I'm the only one in our family that likes apple pie, these were pretty much just purchased for me and I ended up having one last night after dinner (as dessert) and another one earlier today as a snack. While they were OK, they weren't nearly as good as I was hoping they would be.
One of the first things I noticed about these pies is the apple chunks inside them weren't as big as most others. They were diced pretty small and, even though I'm not exactly sure why (I'm guessing it had something to do with texture), they weren't nearly as good as a result of that.
Another thing I wasn't a fan of when it came to these pies was the taste. Apple pie is normally pretty sweet to begin with and some other pies I've had tend to ruin that flavor by adding sugar for some reason. And, after having these pies, I'm pretty sure that was the case this time too. I don't mind sweet-tasting desserts but there is such a thing as being too sweet and this product crossed the line when it came to that.
I will say the pies were filling; at least as a snack. This in itself honestly wasn't anything too special but I can at least say that was as good as other brands.
Overall, however, I don't think I was too impressed with this product. I might buy these pies in the future if they are on sale for a really good price. But, I don't think it this is a brand of pie I would go out of my way to purchase.
