Both of these gals happen to be in salons in the Miami area, but I am fairly certain that the Essie line can be found easily at just about any nice salon in the US. The Essie website show 9 pages with 32 colors per page of just the polish alone, so they do have a very large selection. My two salons offer about 30 of those colors each. Personally, I think reds should be reserved for dress-up nights out on the town, but Lars loves the reds, so I keep bottles of the Capri and Fifth Avenue reds for him. Men. My personal favorite though is called Expose Your Toes and is a really pretty light pink.
Essie nail polishes run about $6 each at the salons for 1.5ml (.5oz) and it is a bargain at that price. The Essie website lists them at $8 each. I would gladly pay that if I didn't know I could get it cheaper elsewhere. This nail polish is sooo worth it.
The main thing is that the Essie polish goes on oh so smooth. I have experienced no streaking or running with any of my purchases. Two coats is all it takes for a perfectly even color. Drying time is on par with all other polishes at about 10-15 minutes if you don't use a drying agent on top of it. The only polish I have found that dries faster in Nivea's Sea Extract Manicure line, but you'll pay twice as much for it, too.
As far as lastibility goes, Essie will last me a full week before it starts to chip... even longer with a good clear top coat. That is amazing. The cheaper polishes are lucky to last 2-3 days.
Another factor which brings Essie above the competition is breathability. Some polishes just feel like they are smothering your nails. Not so with this one. I can hardly even feel it is there. Nice, that.
Five very high stars for the Essie line of nail polishes. The color selection is phenomenal, the polish is amazing, and it really isn't all that expensive given the benefits. Do yourself a favor and grab some today.

Post a CommentI had been using sally hansens complete salon manicure for awhile until I went into to drug store and saw they started carrying Essie so I decided to try it. I must say I am impressed. two coats and it is even and looks great. Hasnt chipped at all in a week. Its so worth the money!
I wish I had discovered Essie before. I have lots of really expensive nail polish - Dior and Chanel ones, but Essie really does stay on my nails twice as long. It does not flake. I'll for sure buy more of these. They have so many colors to choose from!!
Ok if your Essie nail polish is chipping completely the next day yo do not have a good top coat. You have to use the top coat called Seche Vite it is the most amazing top coat that you would ever use. And I have worn my Essie in Cute as a Button for 1 day and it didn't chip at all! hopefully this helps. :)
I always find it amusing when two 'guest' comments come up agreeing with each other back-to-back.
I agree. The Essie product is HORRIBLE. Chips like crazy. I'm finding little chucks of polish everywhere its a joke. Very expensive and completely not worth the money.
I must say Essie is by far the WORST nail polish I have ever experienced. It chips the following day and it%27s not little chips it%27s chunks of polish that come off. Absolutely rediculous%21%21 I can easily get 2 weeks out of a manicure and this product doesn%27t even last 24 hours. Love the colors%2C but not worth the price. In this case%2C stick with the cheaper stuff%2C ladies.
I find Essie to be far superior to OPI in terms of wear, and Essie also offers the absolute best nude and ballerina pink shades. Their colors are gorgeous, and they offer a large selection of sheer finishes.
@ Amanda: The Essie Perky Purple is designed to have a matte finish...that's the new trend in nail color. They even offer a mattifying top coat to give a matte finish to any nail polish. So that wasn't a flaw!
Perky Purple also isn't supposed to be neon, it's supposed to be bright and vibrant, which it is.
I disagree, I recently purchased "Perky Purple" from the Essie Neon Collection and not-only was it nowhere close to being neon, it dried completely matte, making it look like a wax-film on my nails. Needless to say, I was most certainly not impressed for the 10$ I wasted.
I disagree. With the same application technique, the Essie polish still lasts longer.
Beauty insider secret: MOST nail lacquer is created the same. With the exceptions of the eco-friendly nail lacquer, the ingredients are the same for the professional nail acquer like O.P.I and Essie. You can buy the same color and expect the same results IF the application of the polish is done properly. That's the BIG difference, the techniques and procedures that professional nail techs use on nail application. Why do you think your polish last much longer? They have buffed and primed the nail during the manicure which makes it easier for polish to stay on longer. That's even before the base coat, nail strengthener, polish and top coat. Not many nail techs or salons will tell you this though but if you can get a professional to put on the Sally Hansen on one finger and the Essie on the other finger in the same color. You'll see no difference...
Of course salons must carry high end brands like O.P.I , Essie, (which are not limited to just polish) Their products are def. high quali
