Review: Estee Lauder Soft Shimmer Bronzer

TommiH
Hey everyone! Today we are going to talk about another Estee Lauder product. We will be talking about Estee Lauder's Soft Shimmer Bronzer. During this review we will take a look at color, texture and coverage. Let's get started!

Color:
You always want to have a great color when it comes to a bronzer because when it comes to a bronzer - color is everything. Estee Lauder only offers one color in the Soft Shimmer Bronzer - this is a darker color. I will start off by saying that I love the coloring of this bronzer because it is actually a natural looking bronzing rather than an orange looking bronzer.

I will say - if you have very fair skin you may want to stay clear of this product because it is on the dark side and may make you look very fake. I have medium skin and it does wonders with my color, but I'm not fair or light so I can't say how it would do with your skin tone.

As the product states in its name - this is a light shimmer product. This bronzer does indeed have a shimmer tone to it, but not much. The subtle shimmer helps add a natural glow to your complextion without overdoing it.

Texture:
I love the texture of this product. This bronzer is a compact press powder bronzer and is highly smooth to the touch. A brush does come with this bronzer, but I do not recommend that you use the brush. The brush is very rough to the skin and the bristles do not pick up the powder that well. I would recommend using a soft-fluffy powder brush with a larger top. This type of brush will help spread the bronzer more evenly.

Also, I suggest that you use a light liquid foundation under this bronzer if you feel the need to use a foundation. If you use a heavy coverage foundation combined with the bronzer texture - you will end up with a caked on look and that's no good.

Coverage:
Though this is a bronzer, it does cover some problem areas (i.e. red spots, some lighter freckles, etc.), But you do need to understand that this is not a foundation and do not expect it to cover everything. I would call this a sheer cover (your natural skin enhanced slightly).

You can feel free to add a little extra coverage by using a little concealer under the powder. Get a cream or liquid foundation and make criss-cross markings over your problem areas and blend out with a powder brush. After you have applied the concealer, go ahead and apply the bronzer. But I would suggest applying the bronzer in small amounts and build on that.

If you are looking for a good bronzer or you are a beginner in the bronzer field, I would suggest getting this brozner from Estee Lauder. It's a good bronzer and rather easy to work with. Just be careful with the coloring if you have light skin. I will warn you that this is a rather expensive bronzer (pricing in at $30) but it is worth the prize if you know how to work with it.
