This review is on: Eukanuba Naturally Wild Country-Grown Turkey & Multigrain Formula Adult Dog Food
Ingredients (from PetCo.com):
Turkey, Brewers Rice, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, Potato, Ground Whole Grain Barley, Chicken Meal, Fish Meal, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Dried Beet Pulp, Dried Egg Product, Chicken Flavor, Fish Oil (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Potassium Chloride, Brewers Dried Yeast, Salt, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement), Ascorbic Acid, Beta-Carotene, Vitamin A Acetate, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate (source of Vitamin B1), Niacin, Riboflavin Supplement (source of Vitamin B2), Inositol, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (source of Vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Choline Chloride, Minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Carbonate), Calcium Carbonate, DL-Methionine, Rosemary Extract.
Pros:
There are no by-products, no corn and no color additives. The meat comes from supposed natural sources.
Cons:
Turkey is listed as the first ingredient, but turkey is not the same as turkey meal. The turkey could be up to 80% water, but turkey meal is the meat devoid of water. Removing the water from the turkey would make it appear further down on the list. This would make brewers rice, ground whole grain sorghum, potato and even the whole grain barley as the first four ingredients. Chicken meal is the next ingredient, which is good that it makes an appearance, but this is supposed to be a turkey based dog food. The next ingredient is fish meal; it makes me a little weary that the type of fish is not specified.
Overall Opinion:
While this is not the worst food you could be feeding your dog, it is too heavily laden with grains and does not have enough meat in it for me to feel comfortable feeding it to my dogs. For information on what I feed my dogs click here.
Necessary Disclaimer:
I am not a veterinarian, just a concerned pet owner. It is important to consult with your vet when changing diets, but do not assume every veterinarian knows everything about your pet's nutrition. Get a second opinion if you do not feel comfortable with what your vet is telling you.
I am not affiliated with any pet food companies; I simply was misled by commercial dog food companies in the past and feel that you, as a consumer, have every right to know what you are feeding your dog, as well as what you could be feeding your dog.
As with anything, you might have a different opinion than I do, that is what makes this world great. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what experience you have had with this food.
