The hotel is made up of two, pretty terra-cotta colored buildings decorated with stained-glass windows. One side had views of the ocean from balconies attached to the rooms.
The beach was great for the kids because it is shielded from the ocean so that the water in quite calm. I personally prefer more waves to play in while I'm in the ocean, but it was nice not having to worry about the kids so much. There is also a huge pool at the hotel. The pool is so big that there are three swim-up bars within in. A separate children's pool has a water slide that my kids loved.
There are good options for dining at Fiesta Americana. It was convenient and safe for us to be able to eat most meals at the hotel. There were Mediterranean and Mexican fine dining restaurants which both had excellent food. The Mexican restaurant had folkloric ballet a few times a week which made for an interesting dinner. Our kids preferred the more casual options of the French café and the beach grill. If you are looking for live music, you will find it in a couple of the restaurants as well as in the lounge at night.
If you are interested in going to downtown Cancun during your trip, keep in mind that it is about 10 miles away so you will need to take a taxi since it would be a very long walk.
One negative about the hotel is that you must pay a surcharge to use the fitness center if you have not booked a spa treatment. The surcharge was not expensive but I felt as though we had already paid enough for our room. The fitness center was well furnished with everything you would expect and plenty of machines to go around. For an additional fee, you can take yoga and Pilates classes but I chose not to.
One of the main reasons we chose the Fiesta Americana was because of the Fiesta Kids' Club. Our kids really enjoyed the club during our stay at the other Fiesta Americana and they did at this one as well. There are supervised activities for children ages 4-12 that are included with the rate of the room. Children do water activities in the morning, have a free lunch, and do crafts in the afternoon.
Water in the hotel is purified and we had no problems drinking it.
Like many other results in the area, Fiesta Americana rents out snorkeling gear, small sailboats, and kayaks and gives parasailing flights and scuba lessons.
We enjoyed our stay at the Fiesta Americana in Cancun and recommend it to others who are looking for a relaxing place to stay. It had everything you would expect from that type of beachfront resort along with staff who were willing to go the extra mile to make sure our stay was enjoyable.
