Story : Everything that made the original a great story is all here. Intrigue, romance, adventure, drama, comedy. It's all here and it's glorious. The characters are full of personality and are very colorful. Your heroes are all different and even a few of the villains are genuinely chilling.
Graphics : The graphics were originally created on SNES and pushed the limits of the system. They hold up very well, and it all looks as beautiful as it did back then. Everything is animated well, the environments are engaging and they really put you in the world the story takes place in.
Sound : The sound effects are top notch and fit well. Nobuo Uematsu is the creator of the game's music, and there's very little I could say to do this game's compositions justice. In a word, the soundtrack is legendary and many songs will stay with you forever even after you've played the game.
Game play : The game play has some notable differences from the real version. The famous vanish doom glitch, which instant killed nearly any enemy in the game, has been removed. Gau can no longer equip ''Merit Award'', which made him a viable member in the original game.
Many of the game's item names have been changed from the original. Curiously, the new names have little to do with the old ones and those familiar with the names in the original game will most likely be confused with the newer names. However, a more detailed description of each item is available now enabling you to know precisely what each of your items do. In the original some were not as clear and caused confusion.
There's new espers added, four to be exact. This opens up game play a bit, and the characters have now become even more customizable. In addition, new ultimate weapons have been added for each character. There is a new dungeon in the game, designed to be extremely hard and to test the limits of your patience. The difficulty level for this dungeon is unnecessary and time consuming. It's difficult to navigate, and the enemies are far too strong. This dungeon provides difficulty through frustration and not challenge.
Re playability : The game is extremely re playable despite only having a single ending. It is very hard to catch everything in the game in one play through, and the phenomenal story, game play, and music make another play through just as enjoyable.
Overall: 10/10. Incredible story, music, and game play. However, don't do the extra dungeon unless you're willing to be very frustrating for a long amount of time.
