Review of Fisher Price's Baby Papasan Cradle Swing

An Excellent Choice for Young Infants

M
Before the birth of our second child we were given the Fisher-Price Papason Cradle Swing as a gift. We were uncertain if our child was going to be a boy or a girl and we liked that the swing was in neutral tones. We had purchased a Rain forest swing for our son when he was a baby and were disappointed with the fact the motor burned out after a few uses. We were concerned that the same would happen with this swing but were willing to give it a try.

Our daughter is now five months old and the Baby Papasan Baby Swing is still used daily. It was easy to put together and our daughter fit comfortably in it both as a newborn and as a growing infant. The headrest is adjustable and is easily moved as she grows. Our baby prefers the nature sounds to soothe her, but the swing also plays music. Our swing has a mobile that turns which consists of bees and pale green leaves. The center is a mirror that the baby can look up into and see herself. She loves to watch the bees turn and is fascinated with her own reflection.

The swing has six speeds. The lowest speed is still a bit faster than we felt comfortable with for a newborn and we waited until our daughter was a month old before turning the swing on when she was in it. There is an option on the swing that allows the mobile to move and music to be played even if the swing is not moving and we used this in the first few weeks of our baby's life.

The swing rotates so that a baby can move side to side or front to back. Different babies prefer different movements and this gives parents an option. Our son liked to swing forward and backward but our daughter is not happy with this. She prefers to swing side to side and loves to fall asleep like this.

Overall I am very satisfied with the Baby Papason Cradle Swing. The motor is still working wonderfully even as my daughter gets heavier and she seems content when placed in it. My only issue with the swing is it only runs on batteries. We have to replace the four D batteries every couple of weeks. If the swing was able to be plugged in it would be much more economical, but the swing is still very user friendly.
