The actual restaurant is beautiful, with dark hardwood floors and a huge bar taking up the entire left side of the restaurant. There is a very unique wine wall in the back with wine bottles sticking out all over it. There is the bar area to the left of the restaurant and the seating area to the right. In the back of the right side are a few very comfortable couches that are great if you're looking to relax a little. If you happen to catch the south on a not too humid day, they outdoor seating is a great place to take in some fresh air while enjoying your meal and drinks.
The walls of the restaurant are decorated in thousands of different plates or "saucers." Then there is of course the "Ring of Honor" around the top of the walls of the restaurant. To be forever immortalized on the "Ring of Honor" you have to sign up for the restaurants U.F.O club. You pay $14, get a free t-shirt and a magnetic swipe card. You them have to drink a certain amount of beers and once reaching that number you get a plate with your name engraved on it and hung on the wall. The unveiling ceremony is celebrated with a party in your name and some free food and drinks. You're only allowed to drink two beers a day so getting to the final number takes a little while.
The food at the Flying Saucer is pretty amazing especially since their claim to fame is their alcohol. Most "bars" just have snack food to get you through a hunger pang but this place has some really good snacks and meals. I had their rocket tots which were amazing. They are spicy tater tots with habanero sour cream to dip them in. I definitly recommend them as a tasty appetizer. I also tried the chicken quesadilla which was loaded with chicken, cheese, and onions. It was cooked perfectly and just spicy enough. I enjoyed the chicken philly for my meal and loved it. It was cooked perfectly and had crispy peppers and onions stuffed on the inside.
If you're a beer drinker, this is the restaurant for you. The bar that takes up an entire wall, takes up that wall because it is lined with beers on tap. I don't know the exact amount but it has to be around 100 beers on tap. The also have a special everyday where at least two tap beers are on special at a $2 price. If they don't have what you're looking for on tap, their bottled beer is also quite impressive.
If you're looking for a good meal and a great beer I recommend visiting your local "Flying Saucer."

Post a CommentTo get in the Ring of Honor you need to drink 200 different beers. You can drink up to 3 beers a day, not 2.
It truly is a nice bar.
This sounds like the sort of place my husband would really enjoy.
