Review of Food Club Steamin’ Easy Vegetables in Sauce

I was expecting to have leftovers for dinner last night. But, my wife surprised me by stopping at the grocery store and picking up some stuffed pork chops instead. And, since she needed some side dishes to go with it, she also ended up visiting the store's freezer section and picking up a package of Food Club Steamin' Easy Vegetables in Sauce.

I think I've mentioned this in other reviews, but I'm a huge fan of vegetables that can be steamed in my microwave without even having to remove them from the bag. So, when I saw these, I thought it was a good purchase. However, at the same time, I did have some apprehension because I have had plenty of other products from the Food Club brand that didn't live up to expectations and really didn't know if these vegetables would be one of those products.

But, after trying them, I have to admit I liked them.

My wife picked up the "Florentine style" vegetables. This consisted of carrots, broccoli and cauliflower in cheese sauce. One of the first things I noticed about this product when I had a chance to try it was how soft the vegetables were. I'm actually not a huge broccoli fan because I think it's a bit hard to chew. But, I was able to eat this broccoli with no issues. I could also say the same thing about the cauliflower and carrots.

As far as quantity goes, I also had no complaints. It was a smaller bag. But, there was enough for two people (and it was just my wife and I having these for dinner) with leftovers. I've had other frozen vegetables that I couldn't say that about.

My only real complaint about these vegetables is they didn't have enough cheese on them. There was some cheese sauce. But, even after stirring it a couple times, it seemed to settle over just a small portion of the vegetables. The rest of them had a very limited amount that I could hardly taste. That was somewhat disappointing.

Overall though, I think I was happy with this purchase. We had a decent side dish that didn't cost us a fortune and, other than needing a bit more cheese, it did manage to live up to my expectations. If you are looking for something to have with dinner tonight, I recommend looking for a package of these.
