Review of Foster Farms Mini Corn Dogs with Honey Crunch Batter

Bridgitte Williams

I am not a big fan of corn dogs. I have a relative that is. That is how I came to try Foster Farms Mini Corn Dogs with Honey Crunch Batter. I had to admit, these looked good. I am a honey batter lover and I decided to write a product review about my experience with this product. Here is what I discovered!

One large box of Foster Farms Mini Corn Dogs with Honey Crunch Batter costs around five dollars. Each box has over 40 mini corn dogs in it. Not a bad deal. These are microwave friendly. You can also heat them up in a conventional oven or deep fry them. This is a frozen food item and I am all about quick preparation. I decided to microwave these. I placed a few of these on a microwave safe plate, cooked on high for a few minutes, turning these over half way through cooking. They looked great and smelled fabulous. When I tasted them, I loved them. The honey batter is delicious and it transformed a corn dog into a a great snack. I am picky. These pleased me. A few filled me up. I ate mine with honey mustard sauce. It went perfectly with these. I am now a fan. I rate Foster Farms Mini Corn Dogs with Honey Crunch Batter four stars out of five stars. I would buy these again. They are so different and creative. A fun meal time treat. These are made with chicken franks. I did not mind that at all.

One serving equals four mini corn dogs. One serving has 220 calories. 120 of those calories are from fat. These have 13 grams of total fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 25 mg's of cholesterol, 510 mg's of sodium, 19 grams of total carbs, 0 grams of dietary fiber, 7 grams of sugars and 7 grams of protein. These have nice amounts of calcium and iron in them. This product does contain milk, wheat, soy, eggs and gluten. I enjoyed trying this product and writing a review about it. I have to admit that I have never had corn dogs that taste like this. I am a fan of many Foster Farms brand food products. They have been around since 1939.

The Mini Corn Dogs were great. However, the cooking instructions leave something to be desired. Microwaving is fine if you just plan to eat them informally at home. During this process, the dog gives up moisture quite rapidly at about 40 seconds and that will fracture the pastry shell. Also, the shell will not crust in any way leaving it rather soft with no strength. Baking in the oven at 350 for 10 minutes will produce a nicely finished item suitable for taking out to neighborhood functions. The baking time may vary with 10 minutes as a minimum for a few pieces to a few minutes longer for a larger amount.
