Most people that choose Las Vegas as a destination for their vacation prefer to take up residence in a hotel on Las Vegas Blvd. which is the more famously known as the Las Vegas strip. However, for those that are new to the Las Vegas experience, the downtown area offers comfortable options, such as the Fremont Hotel and Casino at a great value.
The Fremont Hotel and Casino is located at 200 Fremont St, in downtown Las Vegas. The hotel, which was built in 1956, still holds a lot of the nostalgia, but the style is very today. The Fremont offers all of the conveniences of a standard hotel such as meeting space, great restaurants, but most importantly plenty of gaming.
The hotel's front desk staff is always friendly, helpful, and provides visitors with a great start to their Las Vegas vacation. The hotel offers 447 guest rooms and suites to accommodate the needs of their guests. Each of the rooms provides the guests with a wall safe, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and a television with access to all of the major television networks, as well as CNN, ESPN, and TBS. The standard rooms are the size of an average hotel room, which is the same as many of the casinos on the strip such as Paris Las Vegas, Bellagio, and the Mandalay Bay. Toiletries provided in the room are soaps, shampoo/conditioner, and mouthwash.
Fremont offers diners several options in the way of cuisine. There is the Second Street Grill, Tony Roma's, Paradise Buffet and Café, and Lanai Express. The Second Street Grill is open for dinner Thursday through Monday and offers a wide variety of foods ranging from steaks to burgers. Tony Roma's specializes in ribs and they do ribs well. Another great option is their daily special from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., which is steak and lobster for $10.99. Tony Roma's opens daily at 4:30 p.m. The Paradise Buffet and Café is Fremont's answer to the Las Vegas buffet. On a daily basis, you have the option of various items to choose from, as well as special features such as Seafood Fantasy on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday nights. The café section of Paradise offers a standard menu. If this is a preference, guests can simply bypass the line for the buffet and ask for seating in the café section. Finally, there is a Lanai Express. This little gem is open from 11 a.m. in the morning until 7 a.m. the following morning. They offer many different choices such as the various Chinese dishes, salads, burgers, hotdogs, 99-cent shrimp cocktail, and from midnight to 7 a.m. breakfast is on the menu.
Now most importantly is the gaming, after all this is why most people go to Vegas. The Fremont Casino offers various games. However, before you play do not forget to sign up with the Players Gold Club. You will find plenty of penny, nickel, quarter, and dollar slot machines. They even have a decent amount of multi-denomination machines. There are also several banks of video poker machines in quarter and dollar denominations. The keno area is just off the front desk. The sports book is in a corner, in the rear of the casino, where one can easily enjoy the game for which they have placed a bet.
Let us not forget one of the most important aspects of any casino, the table games. If blackjack is your game, then you are sure to be at home. The blackjack and a roulette tables have a range of minimum bets. During the week, you will find most tables with a five-dollar minimum, and on the weekend, that minimum jumps to $10. There are also four crap tables in the center of the casino, should you be one to need attention when you are on a roll. There is also Caribbean Stud Poker and Let It Ride. The one disadvantage to the casino is that some gambling favorites such as Pai Gow Poker, Texas Hold 'Em, and Five Card Stud, are not offered at this casino. Also, be aware there are times in the early morning hours that the only games available outside of slots are blackjack, roulette, and craps.
And if you're looking for one more reason to visit one of the older properties and downtown Las Vegas, then step right outside the casino doors and view the nightly Fremont Street Experience overhead. With more than 12 million lights and 550,000 watts up of sound, your eyes and ears will delight to the hourly display on the LED canopies. Be sure not to miss this.
All in all the Fremont Hotel and Casino offers its guests a comfortable stay, reasonable rates, and great gaming opportunities. Whether you are young or old, a gambler or not, this casino and hotel offers a little taste of something for everyone.
