Review of Frontlines: Fuel of War Gets 17/20 Stars

Frontlines: Fuel of War is a first person shooter released by THQ for Xbox 360, released on February 25, 2008. Based on the Unreal 3 engine, Frontline isn't your typical first person shooter with dull characters and uninspiring battlegrounds. The gameplay and graphics are amazing. This beats any other game on the market, and this edition for the Xbox 360 is an addictive inclusion to Xbox's stellar lineup. Here's what makes Frontlines: Fuel of War the best game released for the Xbox 360 today.

Review of Frontline: Fuel of War: The Graphics
This review can't begin without mentioning the graphics in Frontlines. It's amazing. This truly shows how magnificent the Xbox machine is.

The details put into the scenery is astounding. The scenery is crisp, clear, and detailed, and the movement is fluid. There weren't any designer flaws with animation or scenery. The ground reflects movement, the shadows are accurate, and the sky changes depending where you are.

There's also your map. It's very simple, clean, and easy to navigate. You can tell immediately where you're at, which is a problem with other first person shooters.

The graphics are very, very good. Frontlines is unbeatable in this category. This review gives Frontlines gets five stars in this category.

Review of Frontlines: Fuel of War: Sound and Music
This is another grabber. The sounds of men yelling, you running towards your next target, and the sound of wildlife is very, very immersing. You'll hear when you're hit, when other men are hit, and the sound of gunfire launch into fellow comrades.

There isn't much else to say about Frontlines in this category, but this review gives it 5 stars.

Review of Frontlines: Fuel of War: Gameplay
If you're not accustomed to first person shooters, this is tough. If you're experienced, you're going to love it. The gameplay is very smooth. No strange camera angles here. You can switch around easily without the camera acting funky, and you can see where your comrades are headed on the screen and on the map. The controls are fluid too, which is something all game enthusiasts will all love. However, if you're new to first person shooters, it's going to be tough.

This review gives 4 stars, only because of the difficulty for beginners.

Review of Frontlines: Fuel of War: Storyline
A first person shooter with a good storyline? Are you kidding me? Nothing will ever beat Metal Gear Solid's storyline, but Frontline is a close follow-up.

The cut scenes are nice. Emphasis on nice. You're supposed to be in a war, fought between the Western Coalition Army and the Red Star Alliance. You mostly fight in the middle east, which is typical for today's first person shooters. The cut scenes aren't all that great, and the drama's silly. It's almost unbelievable and laughable at best. It also doesn't feel special enough, like it's original. If you've played first person shooters before, this game isn't going to surprise you with the innovative storyline. It's just too overdone. Maybe if the developers put effort into creating an original storyline, it would rack up more. For now though, this review gives it 3 stars.

So together, adding up all the stars, Frontlines: Fuel of War gets a whopping 17 out of 20 stars. Bravo to THQ for making a brilliant first person shooter, albeit not in the storyline department.
