Review of The Fujifilm A303 Digital Camera

Why I Chose This Camera

Kelly Cooper
I purchased my very first digital camera 2 years ago, when prices were about $350 for a 3 megapixel camera. Over the years, the prices of these cameras have dropped a great deal, as it goes with all electronics that become older with each passing year. However, the megapixels for cameras increase almost each year, along with the price. The camera I chose was the Fujifilm A303. I've been quite pleased with it so allow me to explain why.

As my web business was becoming more successful, I realized that I needed a digital camera. Many times, I would need to take pictures of a place, person or an object and would have to rely on my 35mm camera. This doesn't seem like a major problem. However, most times when I took a picture, it would be blurry or the picture would need cropping. The cropping was not so much of a problem as the blurry pictures. With a digital camera, I could immediately see the results of the picture; if it came out blurry, all I had to do was re-shoot. This is a feature that a 35mm camera could never hold. I went with the Fujifilm after thoroughly reading many positive reviews and ratings.

The A303 is a compact and lightweight camera that can easily fit into the pocket of my pants. It features many easy-to-use controls, such as the Ok/Menu button, the search buttons, display button and the LCD screen to preview your pictures. It also features the self timer mode that comes in handy when you need to sit the camera down and have it capture 10 seconds later. This is a great feature for times when you would like to take a picture of yourself or a group of friends, but have no one to take the picture for you. The camera also features a movie mode and an option for close ups. The movie playback for this camera is a little choppy and short, but it is a nice feature nonetheless.

When I bought the camera, it came with a 16MB memory card, which is a little inadequate if you will be taking and storing a lot of pictures, so I went ahead and purchased a 64MB memory card. The camera uses 2 AA batteries, so I bought rechargeable batteries and a charger; this option makes more since due to the batteries' short life when taking up to 60 pictures in one sitting. I also bought the camera case to hold the other camera accessories.

This camera takes very clear pictures and it has not had any problems within the 2 years that I've had it. 3.2 megapixels is quite enough to upload the pictures online, as you don't need more megapixels for this purpose. The camera comes with a USB cable and software that will allow you to quickly upload your pictures onto your computer and internet.

The only drawback to this camera is the lapse of time between taking pictures. It's about 10 seconds long, but it can seem like an eternity. If you plan on taking groups of pictures quickly, you will definitely be disappointed.

Overall, this is a great camera. I give it 4/5 stars for the price, dependability and ease-of-use.
