Review of the Funny Movie Date Night

Allie Bojko
I was pretty psyched when this movie came out earlier this week that I became so impatient I couldn't wait it out any longer. On Friday I saw the very first show time and was really excited because I just had a feeling that the Date Night movie was going to be both spectacular and hilarious. All of the commercials and billboards promoting this movie only added to the excitement I had when I finally took the necessary action when I decided to watch it. We could probably all assume that tons of married couples experience that their boring lifestyle revolves around their dreaded jobs, their annoying kids, only to find out that the exact same things are happening in a repetitive cycle. This is basically the common theme of this movie which not only makes the movie funny but it's also the way things are in reality.

Phil Foster played by (Steve Carell) and his wife Claire (Tina Fey), have such a life in this movie that it applies to their married life, there's absolutely no energy or zest in their relationship it's as if their relationship has been completely sucked dry, their date nights aren't really considered a date because it's as if it has to be done sort of like an everyday chore. On every date night that they go on, they spend a majority of their fun time adlibbing what others may or may not be saying to each other when their waiting for their dinner. It's incredibly funny as well, since both of the actors are in fact comedians, they were great with all of their free styling of their adlibbing improvisation, that worked perfectly as it didn't fail at making me laugh. There were many circumstances in the movie in which both Steve Carell and Tina Fey came up with their own lines or scenes which did indeed make the movie that much better and funnier as well. It's great how a movie like this with such a simple story line goes out of proportion. The movie starts out with them telling a little white lie so they could dine at an expensive restaurant, that actually turned their date night into one big rollercoaster ride with all of the craziness involved, such as a couple of corrupt policemen, local gangsters, and also a muscular Mark Wahlberg.

Set aside all of the jokes in this movie about Mark Wahlberg's character Holbrooke, but if I was a guy and I had a body like him I too, would be showing off my body all of the time. It also goes to stem back to how men do have certain insecurities that may include their pecks, abs, biceps and what not.

I also liked the sense of the movie that shows how married couples, not only spend time together, but how they need to connect on an emotional level, being honest with each other that may include sharing each others fears in order to overcome them together as a couple.

Date Night is a superb comedy in a way that it doesn't try in a way to be better that it can be, they kept the film very simple and brief. Steve and Tina Fey did share their great onscreen chemistry as their able to work off each other's line's and/or antics so well that it makes this comedy work so well. It certainly haves you pulling for this average everyday family to get through their one night disaster, when all they really wanted to do was mix some things up in their relationships because it was way to monotonous and since things didn't work out according to their plan all they want to do now is go back home to their kids safe and sound. This movie is indeed a must watch movie, it gets two thumbs up by me for the movies shear genius. I truly appreciate the individuals that have taken time out of their day to read this review I am certainly thankful for that.
