Review of the New Fuzzi Bunz One Size Pocket Diaper

Ashlee
As a new cloth diaperer I thought I would write a review of the New Fuzzi Bunz one size pocket diaper. This is the third type of pocket diaper I have purchased among Bum Genius and homemade diapers from Ebay. I will try to give a thorough explanation of what I like and what I don't like about this new diaper.

One of the pros I have found with the Fuzzi Bunz one size diaper is its texture. This diaper just feels downright snuggly. Compared to the other diapers I have purchased this one wins hands down on the comfort scale. The inserts that also come with the pocket diaper (one regular and one infant size) also feel quite luxurious. Another pro is that the diaper is fairly easy to size. They have a sizing system using elastic along the legs with button holes to make the fit larger or smaller, from infant to toddler. The back of the diaper has the same system in order to fit the waist size. It took me a little while to size it right, but now my baby fits in them fine. Also a plus with this diaper - minimal leaking. I have experienced one small leak when the diaper was left on too long. We have yet to have a blowout (major plus!). The Fuzzi Bunz company has also made sure there are plenty of very cute colors to choose from and their red diapers, which I purchased, require no separate washings. They can go right in with other diapers on the first wash without bleeding all over the rest of the laundry. These diapers have proven to come very clean and are easy to launder. One of the obvious pros to this diaper is that it is one size. So you pay around the same price as other cloth diapers, but you get to use it the whole time your child is in diapers, thus saving you money.

Now for the cons of the Fuzzi Bunz one size. Probably the biggest detriment in my opinion of this diaper is its bulk. I think part of the leakproof pro of this diaper is the very thick inserts which seem to add quite a bit of bulk to the diaper overall. This could also be in part operator error, seeing as how I'm new to all of this cloth diapering, but it is more bulky than my Bum Genius and Ebay purchases. I have asked other Fuzzi Bunz users and they say the regular diapers are bulky as well. I think a lot of the bulk will be taken care of as the child grows and the diaper can be stretched out. Another con is that when I wash them, the inserts take a little longer to dry than the rest of the diapers. So I have to pull all of the dry things out and let the inserts go a little longer. That may or may not be a big deal to others. Personally it's kind of annoying to me because you have to wait until they're dry to be able to finish stuffing the diapers. Also, after washing on occasion the elastic will come out of the hole and you may have to thread it back in, no big deal, just more time consuming. The diaper makes the claim to fit infants, but I do question how it would fit a small infant. My little boy was fifteen pounds at two months, so I don't exactly have experience with small infants using this particular diaper.

As you can see by my review there are a good many reasons to purchase this diaper and about the same number of reasons not to. But, the Fuzzi Bunz company is highly reputable in the cloth diapering world, so I have no doubt that they will get feedback and fix some of the errors with this particular one size diaper. You have to cut them some slack too, this being their first one size diaper. On a scale of one to ten I would end up giving this diaper a seven. There is definately room for improvement, but I'm satisfied overall with what I purchased. I may have to revisit this review or write another one after I have had more experience with them, but these have been my first impressions of the Fuzzi Bunz one size diaper. I hope this review will better help you decide if you want to include these in your cloth diapering collection. Just as a side note - I purchased mine on one of the few sites I could find that sold them, www.nurturedfamily.com and had a really great experience buying from them.

  • Delamination issues - customer service slow but fi2/3/2011

We had our Fuzzis for about 9-10mo before we noticed the waterproof layer separating from the cover (delamination). After 2 months of trying to contact them and getting our retailer involved, I finally got a response and they have agreed to replace all 21 of our diapers. I am, however, selling the replacements to pay for brands that I like better, like BumGenius, Happy Heineys, Blueberry, etc. I don't want to chance the delamination problem again, and also I really don't like the excessive staining of the fleece lining on the inside - none of my other diapers are as bad about staining as the Fuzzis. They have been well used, but they just look much dingier inside than my other diapers, and I've had some of my other diapers almost as long as the Fuzzis. I also think the adjustable elastic will be a pain with a 15mo old and a new baby sharing the diapers, as it would be time-consuming to either resize every diaper I pick up or sort them by who is using them. It would be

I agree Kim. After having been using them for four months or so now, I'm very disappointed. They are my least favorite diaper. The bulk is way too much. It makes my little boy twice his size and I do have problems with the elastic curling and coming out of the holes as well. A friend let me borrow her perfect fit fuzzi bunz and I like those. I guess I was hoping for the same from the one size. At least now I know! Too bad I bought seven. I was hooked in to the good price I was getting thinking they would be better quality being fuzzi bunz.

I purchased the one size fuzzi bunz on 2/26/09. I had problems with the elastic stretching and curling at the ends in most of my 12 diapers.
I contacted Fuzzi Bunz for the free elastic replacement that was advertised.
After 2 months of communication and 16 emails sent from me, I still have had NO HELP from Fuzzi Bunz.
Ms. Walker and Ms. Theriot have not replied to my emails for a month. I contacted Tereson (the founder and owner) and she told me that they don't even have extra elastic lying around to send me. When I wrote back to her that in that case, I would be willing to even exchange my diapers, she did not respond.
    My recommendation:
DON'T BUY THE FUZZI BUNZ ONE SIZE DIAPER! They are bulkier, elastic curls and will be next to babies skin, and if you have problems with the elastic, Fuzzi Bunz won't help you!
I still love my perfect fit fuzzi bunz, but I am so disappointed in the Fuzzi Bunz customer service. I will not be buying any more Fuzzi Bunz.
