Review of the Game Nintendo, Wii Play, Wii Sport

My horoscope yesterday, taken from the Journal Inquirer, dated Friday November 27, 2009 from the Zodiac Sign Aries, said "Beneath your responsible grown up exterior, there's a child looking for the next fun game". If that's true, then the Nintendo Virtual Game Console, Wii Sport is it.

Two Christmases ago, I promised my husband that I would buy him a Wii Sport Nintendo Video game for his birthday as his birthday is December 21^st, just a few days before Christmas. I also got him a trip to a NASCAR race, but that is a different story.

We had heard about the game console from my daughter's friends. They were all playing it and it sounded like a lot of fun. When I went to the stores to get one, they were all out. In fact, it wasn't until July 2008, that I found a store that stocked the game Nintendo Wii sport.

Actually, that's not the truth - I didn't find it, my daughter did. She called me up at 11:45pm one night and said, "Blockbuster's got one Wii console left on its shelf and they close at midnight".

I looked at my husband who was lying in bed, next to me, under the covers as we were already down for the night, and he said, "Let's go buy our Nintendo Wii Sport".

We felt like high school kids! In record time, we threw our clothes on and hot-footed it to the local Blockbuster Store and arrived at 11:59. They made the sale! I paid $249.00 and was thrilled to finally have made good on my Birthday promise. (Now it is being offered at $199.00.)

That night, my husband and I competed against each other with the bowling, tennis, golf, boxing and baseball Wii Sport fitness software. He blew me away with his high scores on bowling but I kicked his socks off with the boxing! I can be a Tasmanian devil when I want to be, put up your dukes, baby and show me what you've got!

We even loved the Nintendo video games so much last year for Christmas, I decided to buy a console each for my sister and brother's family. For $250.00, I felt I could buy one big gift for the family rather than spend my normal $50.00 (Christmas and Birthday budget) on each person.

Since then we have acquired the Wii play game that includes Pose Mi, Laser Hockey, Billiards, Fishing, and Tanks. Using the remote and the nunchuk allows for a unique social gaming experience for the whole family. I love to drive fast, and the Need for Speed Carbon Game really gets me going. The M&M Kart racing game is funny and the kids really like it.

After hooking the console up to the Internet, my husband was able to download the old Mario Brothers and sometimes when I come home, I find my husband and his friends playing PacMan - what a walk down memory lane!

On Sunday nights, we have begun a ritual where we have our friends and family come over for Wii competitions. Sometimes they bring over leftovers and we share. Other times we chip in and get ourselves some take-out. Either way, we have a blast, competing against one another, usually bowling.

My nephew Logan is the champ. He can bowl 300 point games like he's been doing it all his life. Imagine this sweet little kid, smiling and putting the old folks to shame. And speaking of old folks, the Wii console is a great activity for holidays as well. When we have a party at our house, even the old folks jump up and throw a ball or try their hand at using a virtual golf club. It is absolutely wonderful for the whole family. If you are feeling particularly giving, this is also a great charitable gift for a local senior center or nursing home. The benefits of the fitness game are almost the same as exercising for real.

The other thing that the Wii game has allowed us to do is hook our big screen television up to the Internet. We can chat, check out the weather, download video games or use the search engines all on our big screen TV.

So, if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive gift for the whole family - your nephews and nieces, your parents or even your grandparents, I highly recommend buying the WII Console that comes with Internet hook-up, the Wii sports disc, the console, two remotes, a nunchuk, the sensor bar, a Wii console stand, the Wii AC adapter and AV cable.

It is easy to set up, just remember once you start playing to use the wrist strap when you plan Nintendo Video Games, especially the Wii Sport. We almost lost our big screen TV and my beautiful glass top table top with passionate people making their very best throws. Now it mandatory, in my house when playing with the Wii virtual console, you must use the hand strap!
