Review of Gamer XP Computer from Ibuypower.com

Ryan
Ibuypower.com sells personal computers and laptops. The computers have more power than other systems and cheaper than gaming machines. I decided to give them a chance since I needed an upgrade that could run some games that I wanted to play.

With ibuypower you can customize the system to your specifications. With Dell or Gateway computers you only have the choice of an Intel Processor. If you use ibuypower you can either choose Intel or AMD. AMD is better for gaming. If your going on a budget, then when you are customizing the system you will want to watch how much you change it.

I had to upgrade my old system which is a gateway since I wanted to play EverQuest 2. The ibuypower system runs the game very well, and it is almost 2 years old now. The system that I purchased from them was a Gamer XP machine. The price tag for it was $1,208 plus $109 for shipping.

My customized machine is an AMD Athlon XP 300+ CPU. The motherboard is Asus A7N8X. It came with the processor fan and heatsink plus I added 2 extra fans to the case. The RAM is 1024 MB, 80 GB western digital hard drive, and the video card is an ATI Radeon 9600-XT with 256 MB. There is also a DVD drive and a CD-RW drive. The Monitor is a CRT 19" ViewSonic. It also came with a modem, speakers, on-board NIC and sound, keyboard and optical mouse, and a floppy drive.

One downfall was when the machine around the motherboard was fried. I called up their support and they sent me both a new power supply (just in case it was that) and a new motherboard. I received those with a few days and the new motherboard worked. All I had to do was send the old motherboard back and the power supply. I was no charged for the parts being sent to me or sending the parts back.

If I had purchased a similar system from a gaming company it would have been a lot more money. Alienware and Falcon Northwest both would have been $2,000 or more to purchase through them.

Overall, I have been pretty happy with the computer that I purchased through ibuypower. While I did have the motherboard problem right off the bat, nothing else has gone wrong with the computer. So, if you are looking for a computer that can be used for gaming or just one with a little more power in it then ibuypower might be a place for you to look into. They won't charge you as much as the gaming machine companies.

how in the world can you say you're happy with a computer that had a fried motherboard??? How quickly did this happen? I'm assuming within the warranty period? I hope you realize most customers won't be so forgiving.
Also reading the different reviews for ibuypower, their customer service is suspect at best.
How long did it take you to get your parts? How long were you on hold for?

This is a very simplified review, at best.
