Review of a Garden Nursery in Owego, New York: Tioga Gardens

With all of the super stores taking over it is difficult to find a business that specializes in one thing. When a business specializes in one product the people that are there every day working inside tend to have a certain passion for what they do. This tends to shine through in the care, charm, and quality of product you receive. Tioga Gardens is no exception to this rule.

Tioga Gardens is located on the outskirts of Owego, New York on 2217 State Rt. 170. This garden nursery may not be overwhelmingly expansive but what it lacks in size it makes up for in beauty and character. When you first walk in you are introduced to a small room filled with garden decorations, chimes, pots and a few select plants on display. Through this room you will either go right to a room which contains potting soil and a collection of pots and containers to choose from. As I mentioned before, Tioga Gardens does not lack in the charm department. A perfect example of this is the charming birds housed in their large cages you will find in the back of this room awaiting your visit.

If you turn left after the entry way, you will walk straight into the main garden nursery area which displays tables full of beautiful healthy plants to choose from. You will take notice that Tioga Gardens offers plants of the same variety in different sizes of growth at different prices. There is even a table of plants for less than three dollars which are smaller sized. The room expands out to the right and through another doorway where they typically house their starter plants which they have been growing from seeds. These plants in the nursery are typically not for sale at this stage but there are many others to browse through around the same area. In the warmer months, Tioga Gardens expand their selection even further by placing the outdoor plants outside in their own area.

The main building also houses it's own indoor garden. You will notice this as soon as you pull into the Tioga Gardens parking lot by the glass dome shaped structure in the front of the building. This is a beautiful place to explore. There are wonderful tropical plants, cacti, koi fish and waterfalls.

There is a florist and gift shop in a separate building to the right of the lot where you can find or order floral arrangements for any occasion. This garden nursery doesn't just offer wonderful house plants, outdoor plants and a fun beautiful place to explore. Tioga Gardens in Owego, NY also offers services such as landscaping and their stunning water gardens are available for weddings and other special events.

Tioga Gardens hours are Monday through Friday 8:30-6:00 Saturday 8:30-5:00 Sunday 12:00-5:00.
