Review of The Gazelle Exercise Machine

How Does it Really Measure Up?

Ima Dreamer
I am in no way an excercise equipment expert, but I do know what I like. In my quest for better health and overall need for physical activity I checked out several different pieces of exercise equipment. I purchased a 'glider' which is an excellant machine, but I've always had knee problems so I couldn't use it very much without some extreme pain.

Wanting to be smart and sensible I started walking and have been doing so for years now, but where I live the weather isn't always feasable for walking outside. My quest for a piece of equipment to exercise with indoors began again. I had seen the Gazelle infomercials and was impressed by what I saw, but I was skeptical because what seems impressive on the commercials in real life is not that great. So, with that thought in mind, I dismissed getting one. It wasn't long before I found a family member had purchased one and was really dropping weight. With little consideration I went and bought one. I saw with my own eyes what it could do.

After a short amount of time I had it all put together and was on it. It took approximately two days to really get the feel of it. I can actually exercise without that annoying knee pain. My Gazelle has a timer, tells me how far I have gone, how fast I have walked and caculates the calories I have burned.

The Gazelle can be manuvered in different ways by the handles. If your hands are high on the handles you are basically using your arms, back and upper legs. If your hands are in the middle you can feel your legs tighten a little more, and if your hands are low on the handles then you can really feel your muscles in the legs tighten. I feel like I've had almost a full body workout when I'm finished. You can go as fast or as slow as you want and still burn calories. You can walk with your upper body pushed a little forward, stand erect or lean back to work more parts of the body with any of these methods.

The Gazelle folds and can be placed in the closet or, if your bed sets high enough, under the bed. I leave mine up because I have a place for it, and I use it practically every day. In approximately one hour I can burn a little over 400 calories. If I use it several times a day I can burn even more. I gave less than $100.00 for this machine and I love it. I'm sure there's good excercise equipment out there that may surpass this, but I'll be sticking to the Gazelle for awhile. If I wear this one out I won't hesitate to buy another one.

Some may wonder if they will loose weight with the Gazelle. My family member lost weight with hers. I needed toning and tightening in different areas, and it works well for me. I'm seeing more fat loss rather than watching the weight on the scales go down. I guess it depends on your need. This is a great little machine. If you buy one I hope you get as much satisfaction out of it as what I have, if not I hope that you can find something that you can be as happy with as I am with my Gazelle.
