The reason why kids find the GeoSafari Dino Digs Triceratops so interesting is that it does not merely require assembling, but it requires "excavation" from a fossilized rock too! The boys absolutely loved this part. After the excavation and assembling of the GeoSafari Dino Digs Triceratops, the boys thoroughly enjoyed displaying the finished product on their bookshelf.
The GeoSafari Dino Digs Triceratops includes the fossilized rock or sandstone from where the dino skeletons will be "excavated", excavation tools, a dust brush, a wax adhesive and best of all, an instruction guide that also includes interesting facts about the triceratops. There are three other types of dinosaurs available in the GeoSafari Dino Digs that you can also check out.
The great thing about the GeoSafari Dino Digs Triceratops is that it is also a bonding activity for you and your kids. My six and seven year old sons really enjoyed unearthing the triceratops fossils from the rock. Although this was a messy process, it was well worth it. We made the mistake of doing this activity indoors. I recommend that it be done outdoors or in the garden as the excavation process gets really messy. We were left will so much dust particles from the rock after we got all the fossils out. Nevertheless, we all had fun, myself included.
If you want to step up the learning experience of your children you can also get the teacher's set of GeoSafari Dino Digs Triceratops. It is ten times more expensive, but it is a larger-scale skeleton as it is made for a classroom set-up. It is actually meant as a class activity, but if you really want your kids to be occupied during the dull summer days, the GeoSafari Dino Digs Triceratops Teacher's Set is worth checking out.
