The package has a photograph of a pepperoni pizza that is blurry and soft looking around the edges so you get a big surprise when you open the package. My mother thought the pizza crust looked like the round cardboard piece that it was wrapped on; and she was right. Only since it was frozen it was much, much harder than cardboard. I'm an optimist so I'm thinking once it bakes it will soften up and be okay.
Once it baked for 10 minutes in my preheated oven, the crust was crunchy to the max. It reminds me of the crackers the Civil War soldiers called Hard Tack - only it was thinner. It didn't taste bad, it just was super crunchy and if that's how you like your pizza crust you will be extremely happy. Me, I like my pizza crust thin and slightly crunchy.
The topping of the Gluten Free & Fabulous Pepperoni Pizza was excellent. It tasted like pepperoni pizza should taste, but I think when I get this again I will add more pepperoni to the pizza. I like the top covered in pepperoni. Back when I could order pizza from anywhere, or at least I thought I could, I usually would get a double order of pepperoni.
I don't know if it was my oven, or the fact I used a cask iron skillet as a pizza pan, but the Gluten Free & Fabulous Pepperoni Pizza crust browned unevenly. One side was completely done while the other side needed a tan. The bottom of the pizza browned wonderfully. Next time I bake one of these, I will turn the cask iron skillet around after 5 minutes. If you didn't already know, I'm Southern and Iknow, not believe, that everything tastes better in an old cast iron skillet, so I use it as much as possible.
I should tell you that on the package it states "a portion of the proceeds will go to the Celiac Sprue Association. Click here to learn about it and click here to go to the Gluten Free and Fabulous website. Also on the package is the story of how Shari Cole got started making gluten free food; her father has Celiac Disease and her daughter is "mildy autistic with gluten intolerance." So Ms. Cole knows how important it is to keep all ingredients gluten free and made in a facility dedicated to being gluten free. Gluten Free & Fabulous products are safe for those who are gluten intolerant or have Celiac Disease. Bless her for that.
Bottom line: It is the best testing gluten free frozen pizza I have had and I will go back and get more.

i like crunchy, but am weary of store bought, boxed pizzas
Excellent review. I remember Kroger from my days in Tennessee (Chattanooga and Knoxville), and now that Kroger has bought out Ralph's supermarkets and their off-price counterpart Food 4 Less, I can get a hold of Kroger products here in California. With several local and national chains offering pizzas at $5 to $7, I have no need to get a frozen one.
A very thorough review.
I appreciate the review, Genie. We don't have a Kroger near here though.
