Review: Grand Lux Cafe in Long Island, NY

Looking for a Restaurant with Elegance and Style?

As a native New Yorker, I've been to quite a few restaurants in New York City and on Long Island. However, few restaurants that I have been to blew me away quite like the Grand Lux Café. The Grand Lux Café is located right near the Roosevelt Field Mall so it makes it a perfect location to grab a bite to eat after shopping.

The very first thing that sticks out at you before you even enter the restaurant is the architecture of the restaurant. From the outside it looks like a giant palace. The restaurant building has high arches and is a bright gold color that makes the building stands out from the crowd. Everything about the architecture of the building signals to customers that this is one special and unique restaurant.

When you enter the restaurant, you are further amazed by the marble tile floors and enormous bar on one side of the restaurant. The bar has just about every type of alcoholic drink imaginable and the bartenders know how to make them all. There is also several television screens positioned near the bar.

When you sit down, the booths are even made special by the fancy and elegant marble tables and the nice leather seats. The service is also exceptional and you will notice all of the waiters and waitresses are very professional and in expensive uniforms that have the restaurant name on them.

Now at first you might assume that the prices on the menu would be rather expensive since all of the furniture and architecture is so expensive. However, that's simply not true. The prices are all very reasonable. For some of their specialty dishes they might charge a little more than normal but the per person price is only about $15 if you include drinks.

When your food is brought out to you, your jaw will drop and your eyes will nearly fall out at the giant portions of food. A friend of mine ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad as his main course and the size of the salad was almost a foot high, no joke! My friend can eat quite a lot and even he had trouble finishing the salad. I ordered a pasta dish which at first didn't seem that much more than your average pasta dish. However, the bowl was very deep and its size was deceiving. I was able to finish off my food but I had no room at all for their amazing deserts which are a little pricey.
