Review of the Great Hot Tub Time Machine

Allie Bojko
I was extremely stoked when this movie the Hot Tub Time Machine first came out on the opening weekend I just knew I had to see it. My first train of thought had me thinking that it was probably going to be a movie I would regret watching at the movie theatres. I usually don't watch movies that I assume are going to get the "axe hammer" treatment, so I would clearly wait it out until it comes out on Dvd and rent it out at my local video store, it's the safest route I embark on. How wrong was I for thinking that, right? Read on to find my perspective on this movie the Hot Tub Time Machine.

The movie the Hot Tub Time Machine is an unusual story of three former buddies- Adam is played by the 80's legend (John Cusack), Nick's played by the star of the hit tv show The Office (Craig Robinson), and than there's finally Lou, who's played by the always funny (Rob Corddry) and than there's finally Adam's 20 year old nephew Jacob (Clark Duke). All three of the men excluding Jacob (he didn't exist than but was visible throughout the experience) end up going back to their former past, they revisit the hot spot ski resort that was really popular at the time in which they were young adults. The interesting thing about this movie is that there's a powerful time machine awaiting them outside of their room and low and behold it's the so called "hot tub time machine" with all of the actual movie effects and some movie magic it takes them into their past time. All four of them are sent into the Winterfest of 1986, it's the event that the men Adam, Nick and Lou went to way back when the resort was what it was the greatest resort at the time. They all have the notion that they'd have to replicate every single moment or event they did in the past in order for them to get back to the present year of 2010. Many of things that take place in the second go around are bettered because they all live happier lives as opposed to the previous past's results, although all of the men clearly vowed that they wouldn't change the past and that they would keep everything the same they did break that pact. The movie was completely hilarious in those regards to the former friends stories' and a fair share of awkward scenarios for the young 20 year old Jacob.

I'd have to admit that this movie did indeed make me laugh because every scene in the movie had a fair share of jokes and raw humor portrayed in the movie. If I were to compare this movie to any other movie I'd ever seen it would probably be similar to the movie The Hangover because of the same general idea but different storyline. Since I did enjoy the movie The Hangover, the Hot Tub Time Machine is by far the superior movie because every scene was funny as opposed to The Hangover. I also think that the general storyline was a lot neater and creative as opposed to The Hangover because who would've thought that a hot tub could actually be a time portal. I also enjoyed all of the character's in this movie because I took a general liking to them because I felt like a had a little bit of me in every one of them. Like the things I would love to change because I regretted them but wasn't able to take them back or make the choices I could have made than but didn't. This is a must-see movie because of the laugh appeal, character's likeability and because it's just generally a great overall movie. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone that likes to laugh or just wants to get away from reality and if that's the case this movie will do just that.
