The shape of the Great Value Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Sauce Pizza is square, but you can't tell this from the picture on the pizza box. It made me wonder what else I couldn't tell from the picture. Still, this shape is perfect for cutting. Depending on how many cut lines are made, you can get nine, twelve or sixteen pieces of pizza.
The box of the Great Value Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Sauce Pizza stated that the crust was a self rising crust. I honestly couldn't tell. The crust stayed thin, like maybe the yeast in the dough was dead. The crust was slightly crispy even though I had used the soft crust directions. The crust was definitely not up to my standards.
The pizza toppings were very tasty. The toppings were not sparse as I had half expected, although the amount was far from generous. Great Value Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Sauce Pizza was a step ahead of Totino's frozen pizza when it came to the amount of toppings, yet it lagged behind better national brands such as Freshetta and DiGiorno frozen pizzas.
It was obvious that this pizza was made by a company trying its best to compete with higher priced brands but still offer itself at an unbeatable price. I think that the company making the Great Value Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Sauce has come close to achieving this ideal but not close enough. The undesirable crust is the only thing I hold against this pizza.
The Great Value brand is Wal-Mart brand and therefore can only be bought at Wal-Mart. I bought the Great Value Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Sauce pizza for four dollars and seventy-two cents. However, if I had known the crust left a lot to be desired, I would have spent the extra twenty-five cents and bought DiGiorno brand frozen pizza instead.
I would recommend the Great Value Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Sauce Pizza to most people, especially those with small children since the pizza can be cut into smaller pieces so easily. However, if you aren't concerned with feeding a multitude with a little or prefer quality, then I suggest buying a higher priced brand.
