Review: Green Giant Healthy Heart Vegetable Blend

Green Giant Healthy Heart Vegetable Blend Offers Soluble Fiber

Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez
I found another Green Giant vegetable product I simply had to share with the rest of the world: Green Giant Healthy Heart mixed vegetables. Green Giant Healthy Heart mixed vegetables brings pearled barley, sugar snap peas, and Julienne carrots together in a tasty extra virgin olive oil-based herb sauce.

It used to be that the tasty things in life weren't supposed to be good for you, but Green Giant is managing to throw aside that old misnomer with their Healthy Heart vegetable blend.

Preparation

The Green Giant Healthy Heart vegetable blend can be prepared only in a microwave, so that means you can't heat up the vegetables in a conventional oven or in boiling water.

To get things cooking with your Green Giant Healthy Heart vegetables, simply place the pouch containing the vegetable blend into a microwave and then heat the vegetables on high for 3 to 5 minutes. Afterwards, remove the Healthy Heart vegetable blend pouch from the microwave, pull apart the bag (or, if you need to, cut a slit in the pouch), and then empty the vegetables onto a plate.

Flavor

Anybody who has read my review of the Green Giant Digestive Health vegetables knows that I like the overall flavor of the vegetables in the Green Giant line, but the amount of sauce can either make or break these types of vegetable plates for me. Well, let me say here that the Green Giant Healthy Heart vegetable mix has just the right amount of the extra virgin olive oil sauce in it. You see, the issue for me is that sometimes, these vegetable plates can taste rather dry.

While the flavors are great and the vegetables in each of the combinations harmonize well together, the textures sometimes be a little unpalatably dry. However, that's not even an issue here for the Green Giant Healthy Heart vegetable blend. The barley provides the bulk and base of this meal. The sugar snap peas and Julienne carrots bring a zest of flavor to this meal. The olive oil sauce makes the whole thing tastefully moist, and the herb combination in the olive oil sauce delivers a bit of kick without making this meal too spicy.

I'm amazed at what the Green Giant vegetable line is doing to my daily menu; I actually want to eat my veggies now! Mom would be proud.
