Review: Green Giant Roasted Potatoes with Garlic & Herbs

Green Giant Roasted Potatoes Make a Great Snack or Side Dish

Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez
Green Giant makes eating healthy vegetables easy with their line of easy-to-make veggies. Green Giant Roasted Potatoes with garlic & herbs is another entry in the Green Giant collection of heat and eat vegetables I love to pick up at the grocery store. Green Giant Roasted Potatoes are large (but bite-size) chunks of roasted potatoes in a savory sauce.

Herbs help to give the flavor of the roasted potatoes some delicious depth.

Preparation

As things go with preparation of all Green Giant veggies, making Green Giant Roasted Potatoes is a snap. Be sure to keep in mind that you can make Green Giant Roasted Potatoes only in your microwave. It is not recommended that you cook Green Giant Roasted Potatoes on the stove top or in a conventional oven.

Be sure you place the pouch of roasted potatoes on a microwave-safe pouch with the printed side of the bag facing up. Don't poke any holes or cut any slits in the bag. Start cooking the roasted potatoes in the microwave for 4-1/2 to 6-1/2 minutes on HIGH. You might need to cook the potatoes a little longer if you have a low-wattage microwave.

Once the roasted potatoes have stopped cooking, carefully remove the pouch from your microwave and carefully open the pouch by pulling apart the top of the bag.

Flavor

Green Giant Roasted Potatoes have a lot going for them. There are few quick-serve potato products on the market that taste good and aren't highly processed. When's the last time you saw any microwavable frozen potato product that actually looked something like what the potato may have looked like before it was whipped, processed, or pureed?

The buttery, rich flavor of Green Giant Roasted Potatoes is very appealing. One of the better frozen potato products on the market, these roasted potatoes aren't very salty in flavor. The garlic and the herbs really give some pizzazz to these cuts of delicious potato. The garlic, by the way, isn't at all overpowering; it tastes like a only a dash of garlic was used to add some flavor. The roasted potatoes aren't at all mushy and I didn't see any gray spots the Green Giant Roasted Potatoes I enjoyed.

Nutrition

Potatoes scare some people because they are starchy and notorious for doing battle with carb counters. Point given, potatoes have some starch and aren't always going to make concerned carbohydrate-fighters very happy. But you know what?

Nothing beats a good potato. Besides, the nutritional side of these Green Giant Roasted Potatoes is really quite good, at least for a frozen potato product.
