Review: H10 Universitat Hotel in Barcelona

If you are planning a trip to Barcelona, Spain, consider staying at H10 Universitat Hotel. It is a four-star hotel located near the Plaza Catalunya and the gothic quarters. Rooms cost approximately 150 euros (or $180) per night. I found this price to be very fair for the high quality of the hotel and staff, as well as the close proximity to many sights that I wished to visit. I was even given a glass of champagne at check-in.

Getting to the hotel by taxi is quick and easy. It is about 7 miles from the airport. There are also airport buses a short walk away which are probably a cheaper option. If you will be using the Metro while in Barcelona, keep in mind that H10 Universitat is very close to the Universitat Metro Station as the subway travels right underneath the hotel. As a female traveling alone, I felt that the location of the hotel was very safe and felt comfortable walking around alone during the day, using common sense of course.

The Urban Restaurant, Moments Lobby Bar, and Twenty One Terrace serve food and drinks in the hotel if you do not feel like going out each time. We ate at the Urban Restaurant one evening and found they had tasty local food and friendly service. However, for the remainder of our meals we chose to explore the city just to get a better taste of what was out there.

The common areas and guest rooms of the hotel are all very attractive. They are decorated in a simple, contemporary style. Everything is kept exceptionally clean and well-lit. Our room was on the front side of the hotel and had a small balcony so I could sit and overlook the street when I returned in the evening. Keep in mind, it is a rather busy, noisy street so you will probably not want to sleep with your windows open and might need earplugs if you are a very light sleeper.

Overall, the best aspect of this hotel is its location close to the center of the city. I love being able to walk out of a hotel and explore my surroundings without the frustration of figuring out how the public transportation system works immediately. I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone interested in traveling to the area and would consider returning myself if I were ever to be in Barcelona again.
