Review of Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger All Natural Ice Cream

Alexandra Morgan
My most recent and favorite food discovery is Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger all natural ice cream. I can't quite explain the religious experience this unassuming white ice cream creates for a ginger fanatic like me, all I can say is -- you must try it.

If you're not quite keen enough on ginger to want a full container of it, I would suggest buying the 14 fl oz container and the 14 fl oz container of Haagen-Dazs Passion Fruit Five all natural ice cream; the two flavors work wonderfully together, a scoop of each in a bowl.

You might be wondering what the five refers to in the product name; the five indicates the five ingredients in Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger all natural ice cream: milk, cream, sugar, eggs, and ginger of course.

Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger all natural ice cream is the perfect spring/summer ice cream flavor; it's light, natural, not too sweet but just sweet enough, and goes wonderfully with fruit (ginger is a common additive in fruit desserts). For a simple yet elegant summer dessert idea, pair a scoop of Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger all natural ice cream with a cup of fresh strawberries in an elegant parfait dish or desert cup, and voila.

What I think is pretty cool about this ice cream is that you also get 8% vitamin A, 10 % calcium, and 5 grams of protein in every serving, not bad eh? A 14 fl oz container of Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger all natural ice cream contains 3.5 servings per container (1 serving totaling about ½ cup), 230 calories per serving, 110 calories from fat per serving, 12 grams of fat, 7 grams of saturated fat, and 0 grams of trans fat.

This fresh summery ice cream flavor is a total winner in my book and has already become a staple in my freezer. I'm looking forward to doing a little experimenting with it as well, I'm thinking of a milkshake... perhaps with peaches, strawberries, coconut, or passion fruit. Or perhaps, I will combine the Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger ice cream and the Haagen-Dazs Five Passion Fruit ice cream both into one milkshake and top with nuts and or/ fruit. I guess I don't need to mention here how much I love to make milkshakes and smoothies.

Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger all natural ice cream is available at most chain grocery stores for anywhere between $3.50 and $4.50 depending on current sale prices. Again, if you're not a huge ginger fan, I would recommend picking up the Haagen-Dazs Five Ginger as well as the Haagen-Dazs Five Passion Fruit flavors to be combined for a taste medley sure to please.
I hope you enjoy this delicious summer ice cream treat!

Although these flavors don't sound appealing to me -- I just LOVE Haagen Dazs Rum-Raisin, especially with some Bacardi Golden Rum poured over it.

Ginger - ice cream? sorry sounds nasty.

Sounds interesting. I'll look for it even though I don't usually like ice cream that contains eggs.
