When I came across a Healthy Choice Top Chef Inspired Chicken Fresca with Chardonnay Meal in the frozen dinners section of my local grocery store, I was intrigued. This dinner looked good. I decided to purchase it, try it out and write a product review all about my personal experience with it. Here is what I discovered!
One Healthy Choice Top Chef Inspired Chicken Fresca Meal costs a bit over three dollars. I actually found this meal on sale and that is one of the reasons that I tried it. Another reason was the top chef lure. We all want meals prepared by top chefs and I had high hopes for this frozen dinner. I do love many Healthy Choice brand food products. This one is low in calories, low in saturated fat and vitamin rich, not to mention protein packed. That all sounded great to me. I could not wait to taste this meal!
This dinner has chicken tenderloins, corn, carrots, green beans, redskin potatoes, all in a Chardonnay wine sauce. Sounds so gourmet. This meal has no preservatives in it. That is right, preservative free. Awesome. It is also rich in fiber. This frozen healthy meal is perfect for microwave cooking and that is how I prepared it. I put it in my microwave, heated on high for five minutes, removed the film cover, poured the contents of the steamer basket into the bowl with the sauce, stirred well and served. This dish looked fabulous. It smelled good, too.
When I tasted this meal, I liked it. This dinner has a lot of veggies in it. Lots of potatoes, for sure. Sadly, it did not have much chicken in it. It is also a bit bland. I was astounded. Rarely do I add sea salt to any frozen dinner, but with this one, I had to. It still tasted blah. I added some bacon bits to it and it became edible and much better. This dinner is missing some serious flavor and that was quite a big disappointment, considering it was chef inspired.
I rate Healthy Choice Top Chef Inspired Chicken Fresca Meal three stars out of five stars. It is a very filling meal, but Chardonnay or not, it needs more flavor. This dish has 240 calories. 60 of those calories are from fat. It has 6 grams of total fat, only 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 3 grams of monounsaturated fat, 1.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 40 mg's of cholesterol, 570 mg's of sodium, 1000 mg's of potassium, 30 grams of total carbs, 4 grams of dietary fiber, nice, 2 grams of sugars and 16 grams of protein. This dish is vitamin A and folic acid rich. This meal does contain milk and soy.
I enjoyed trying this dinner and writing this product review about it. It equals six weight watchers points plus, according to Con Agra. I really liked the large amount of food that I got for my money, with this one, but it certainly needs more flavor. The Contributor has no connection to nor was paid by the brand or product described in this content.
