Review: Hofbrauhaus German Restaurant

Drew Bush
It's a Friday night and you just ended a stressful week at work. It is now the weekend and you are ready to get the party started. So what should you do? How about getting together with friends and family and having a couple of drinks and good food at none other than Las Vegas's Hofbrauhaus. Hofbrauhaus is one of Las Vegas's most amazing German restaurants. There are a million different things to choose from the menu. They have some of the best Bavarian meals in town. You can have their tasty Wiener Schnitzel with their homemade Bavarian potato salad; choose from a variety of wurst dishes including chicken bratwurst, the Hofbrauhaus Wurstplatte, and pork sausages. Or, you can try the Grillhendl (one of my favorites) which is a half roasted chicken stuffed with parsley, beer butter, and onions. There are also delicious burgers and sandwiches. Have the restaurant's famous Riesenbratwurst sandwich or their Bavarian style hamburger. If you are not in the mood for meat, try their tasty salads. They offer a classic Caesar salad and chef salad. The restaurant even serves different fish dishes including Orange Roughy and Cod. Every Monday through Friday there are dinner and lunch specials.

In addition to the great food, the restaurant has a variety of imported beer. The beer is made using recipes that are hundreds of years old. The beer is imported directly from Munich, Germany. I must also say that their Apple Cider is also amazing.

Besides the food and drinks, the overall atmosphere of Hofbrauhaus is very inviting. You do not have to dress too fancy as it is fairly laid back and casual. It does get a bit noisy on the busiest of nights, particularly during the weekends. A band plays there every night and gets the crowd going wild. You can even request a song if you'd like. The seating arrangement is a little different than that at any other restaurant. People are seated at really long tables with bench like seating. In some cases, over ten people can be seated at one table. My college class buddies and I went at the end of a semester of school and had a great time.

Meal prices at the restaurant run anywhere from under $10 to as much as over twenty or thirty dollars. Even so, you get a lot of food for what you pay. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is exhilarating and you can just have a good time. Hofbrauhaus is located at the intersection of Paradise and Harmon just across the street from the Hardrock Hotel/Casino. It is opened from Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-12 a.m. For any questions or more information, call (702) 853-2337.
