Pros
The Hoover U6485900 Windtunnel combines excellent cleaning performance with the added convenience of self-propelled operation. You will find the self-propelled feature gives you superior maneuverability and virtually effortless vacuuming both forward and reverse movements.
This bagged upright uses Hoover's patented WindTunnel system which uses three suction tunnels to eliminate dirt scatter and remove the hidden deep-down dirt that other uprights left behind. If you still have your old vacuum you can test the cleaning performance of this unit by vacuuming your carpet with the old vacuum and use this unit the day after. You can see just how dirty the filter is after you've done vacuuming. That should prove the difference in performance between the two vacuums.
This vacuum is also excellent in cleaning bare floors. And when you're cleaning bare floors and tiles you can turn off the beater brush to prevent dust and dirt flying away from the vacuum.
It also comes with a disposable HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) media bag that can trap 99.97% of pollens and dust which is a real convenience for people who suffer from allergy and are concerned about the air quality in their home.
Other features including an 8-foot stretch hose with two extension wands and a complete set of on-board tools so you can do a variety of cleaning jobs around the house. You also get a pet hair cleaning tool with power brush roll for vacuuming upholstery and carpeted stairs.
Cons
Even though this unit has the self-propelled mechanism that makes it easy to push or pull it is still a heavy machine. This thing weighs over 28 pounds so lugging it up and down stairs would take some serious effort.
The next flaw is the noise it makes. This thing is loud. If you turn on this machine when your family members are watching TV then prepare yourself for some serious discord.
Conclusion
The Hoover U6485900 WindTunnel is able to suck in more dirt than the more expensive uprights. It is kind of heavy to take up and down stairs so you may need a secondary vacuum for the second floor. The overall performance, however, outweighs this small inconvenience. So if you can spare some more money to buy a secondary vac (or if you already got one) you really should get this upright.
