What is the HP EliteBook 2540p?
The HP EliteBook series is a line of small notebook PCs that provide the same power as premium full sized laptops with a durable build that can withstand the elements. Due to the durable build, the EliteBook can be used in a variety of settings and nearly anywhere while on the go.
Pros of the HP EliteBook 2540p
• Durability- The EliteBook 2540p meets military standards for dust, humidity, altitude, extreme temperatures and vibration resistance. The keyboard is also designed for minor resistance against liquid spills, which makes it great for out of the office conditions. The notebook is encased in a hard plastic finish and magnesium allow inner shell, which is extremely durable compared to most laptops.
• Processor-The i5-540M Processor (2.53 GHz, 3MB L3 cache) is both fast and powerful. Standard netbooks typically rely on 1 GHz Atom processors, which are very slow and horrible at multitasking. However, the near netbook size of the EliteBook does not sacrifice power at the expense of portability.
• Weight- Weight and screen size are the most important factors in regards to portability. The EliteBook weighs 3.38 pounds and has a screen size of 12.1", which makes it great for traveling and for on the go use.
• Battery life- A major problem with powerful laptops is that the battery life is less than phenomenal. Netbooks answered this problem with longer battery life, but less power. However, the EliteBook has a battery life of around 7 hours and 30 minutes, but varies depending on applications used.
• Connectivity- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available on the EliteBook 2540p, while Wi-Fi is standard, Bluetooth is available as an add on. With many mobile devices, mice and sound systems using Bluetooth technology, the additional add on can be very valuable.
• Keyboard in the dark- Since many mobile professionals work while on the go, whether that is in a limo, airplane, or on the train the lighting is often low. The EliteBook 2540p has a built in LED light that shines on the keyboard when activated, which provides a low, but visible light for the keyboard.
Cons of the HP EliteBook 2540p
• Speaker location- The speakers are located towards the bottom on the bottom edge of the notebook. This layout is disappointing because it takes away from the speakers projecting sound to a large area. However, the design allows for more room for the keyboard and quick keys.
